I’m not sure if I can fit my metal hood on my 68 RoadRunner with my current air cleaner/ intake setup on a 440. I have a picture attached of the setup. Is it possible to get an oval style air cleaner to make the metal hood work? It’s a 1968 roadrunner hood with the side vents. It’s not an air grabber hood with the top vents.

I do have a fiberglass hood that will fit, but it isn’t painted. Only the metal hood is painted and ready to be installed.

I also wondered if the metal hood did fit, would that allow enough ventilation/air for the oval style air cleaner? The fiberglass with the 2.5” scoop obviously would allow enough air in, but I’m not sure if the metal would. I’ll add a picture of the hood that I am talking about as well. Thanks!

I had a 6 barrel on my 68 gtx and the air cleaner fit just fine with the stock hood.

Yes, the stock oval air cleaner for a 6 pack/6 barrel. Not the A12 lift off hood style one just to clarify.

When I put the oval air grabber air cleaner on I had to change the wiper motor and switch to the 3 speed, or you can cut part of the air cleaner, I chose to replace the wiper

Or trim one!! with a 2 speed wiper

Im using a six pack hood now, but the stock hood clears.

Should fit without a problem. My six pack clears in a A body.

I’m running a 383 with a high rise intake, Edelbrock carb and the 440 base on my air cleaner under fiberglass six pack hood with hinges , lots of room, haven’t even tried my stock hood it’s leaning against my coupe project in the garage

If that's your setup with those little Band-Aid containers on top of the carbs, trash them for the large oval air cleaner. for an improvement both cosmetically and functionally.

Already looking into it! From some of the replies, the metal hood should clear. Thanks!
