If I remember correctly factory driveshaft is supposed to be 52.007" for a 68 charger big block 727/ 4 speed and an 8 3/4 and 7290 u-joints right? I even measured a buddies driveshaft to confirm and it was 52" but unfortunately it not yet installed. So I had one made just with 1350 u-joints instead. Does this look right?

Reallly? I started freaking out thinking it was too long. I thought I remember my old driveshaft having more of a gap between the boot seal and yoke but then again that was a 904 small block. I do have a new seal on order.

Looks OK. Measured off a factory driveshaft 1330 u-joints. Ordered a driveshaft and the 1350 yoke was thicker making it a little longer, Still OK.

did the out put shaft on trans come out the the end of the seal boot or close to it? if so , looks like you don't even have a 1/2 in of room before bottoming out in yoke.

Mine is even slightly closer than that. When the car is sitting straight and level the driveshaft will be at its closest to the trans. When the suspension lifts or compresses it increase the distance that the diff is away from the trans hence pulling the driveshaft away with it. The amount of movement in and out is not very Much at all...

He would have to have at least the amount of space (more than the 1/2” you speak of) required just in order to get the driveshaft in and out if the rear yoke.

The yoke itself, past the sliding part is 1/2-3/4 thick so he is fine. Mine is a little closer.

Was able to shove the driveshaft back a bit in order to install. Just don't recall how much. I'm sure it was enough to finish off the dust boot lol.
