Working on a 360 that was a crate motor from Chrysler # on block 53020006-360 Has a cast damper on front. the flex plate is nothing special and there are no weights on converter, 904 trans. Engine has bad vibration. any ideas?

Pretty sure you need weights on the converter. Not sure what a "crate motor" had for a crank. All OEM 360's were external balanced. Damper & converter.

If it was a stroker.... ??
Yeah you need more info about what you have there

Flexplate ...converter.,...or harmonic balancer possibly?

Thanks for the replys. Will try the flex plate.

Pretty sure you need a magnum balance flexplate, not the old 360 style. 10242 b@m is for magnum, and discontinued la360 is different.

I've been using an "LA" balancer on my Magnum based 360 for almost 15-years with no problems. I've used that exact flexplate for just as long. First thing I suggest checking is the converter, if it doesn't have any balance weights, most aftermarket units don't, this flexplate is the way to go.

Just do a search on the a-bodies only site before you buy anything, there is a thread in 2019 that shows pictures of the flexplates. Magnum and la are not the same, close but not the same.

Actually the flexplates, balancers and everything else on the bottom end are the same, the only real differences are the provisions for a roller cam, lack of oiling for the LA rocker shafts (these are drilled on a crate short block, I can only assume that they are for the long block too) and the extra motor mount location (Mopar wisely set the Magnum block up for both LA and Magnum mounts). I have been running LA heads, balancer and flexplate since I put the new engine together 15 years ago.

NOTE: I went with the crate short block because, at the time, it was cheaper than having my block machined and built with the exact same parts AND it came with a warranty (how many machine shops do that?).

Thanks guys, Looking for a B&M 10241 flex plate if anyone has one?

I disagree that la and magnum are the same, swapped a few, but if yours worked out that is great, the balance would have been close. Mopar p5249843 is the weight package for a 360 magnum. Maybe there is a few still out there. Bigblockmopar.com has a diagram of that kit showing where they go for the 360 magnum, both 11"and 10"converters. If you look around you can find the weight size and make your own in a pinch, 1/2"x3/4" comes to mind but it has been 20 years.

The Crate 360 engines from MP came with the instructions shown above - I had to weld those weights onto my TC back when I put the MP360 300hp crate into my Charger... but I believe now you can get a magnum balanced flexplate

If you are using a "factory" style flexplate you need the weights but, using the weights with the flexplate above will result in an imbalance. Both Mancini Racing, who I bought my original 2200 RPM converter, and Hughes, when I upgraded to 3500 RPM, confirmed this.
