I've used Forward Air in the past but have been trying all week via email or phone and cannot reach them for a quote. Anyone else got ideas for a carrier to use?

Try google for Uship.com I know they used to handle LTL freight.

Try R+L Transport. They do door to door and have lift gates.
Or Fastenal.

IDK where your stuff is located, but, I’m on Long Island and I used FASTNEL which are located about 8-9 miles from me. There in the Ronkonkoma area. You must deliver to them (call first or visit them) I shipped a disassembled SBM engine. Strapped to a wood Pallet and wrapped in a plastic wrap to contain the boxes of loose parts. I drive it to them in my pick up. They unloaded quick and easy with there hi-lo. I don’t remember the cost, a few hundred... it went to El Paso Tx. in about a weeks time to there facility there where the new owner drive his pick up there and they loaded it up for him.
FASTNEL was very easy to work with and very helpful. The whole deal went very smooth.

Thanks for the suggestions. One of my friends is actually grabbing a car in NY and may be able to grab it for me, if not I'll try these.
