My '69 Charger SE is rare, in that it has original single exhaust and a two-barrel carb. Pretty tame, but a nice cruiser. I don't need to go extreme, but I want to open the exhaust with two pipes/mufflers. I'd like to keep the interior quiet, especially at highway speeds. I've been looking at Magna-Flo. I have a lift and will be doing the work myself. Any suggestions?

Dons custom exhaust in Ohio ..... complete kits.....best price around .....gives you turbo mufflers with nice sound

Selecting mufflers is akin to reading a menu at a Greek restaurant! You want to settle on what amount of sound you want. As I'm searching for mufflers with a lower degree of noise (have Flow Masters now) you may want to hear some sound clips from the mfg's. This is still some guessing and the price ranges are pretty vast. Read some nice things about Dynomax, and now I'm closer now to Accurate Exhaust (just me) but haven't yanked this trigger yet. There's not much more on the simple that will quickly wake up a car than a 4bbl and duals.

Waiting for the reply of taking it to JoeBob's Muffler shop in Nowhere NE.! My brother bought a TTI complete kit, installed it himself and still had to hit the exhaust shop to finish it as it didn't fit quite right. You should really crunch some numbers before jumping in on this as it may be more expensive in the long run. Good Luck

You're going to have to ship an exhaust anyways ......and you want stock type and a good price .....dons is best

I had Flow Masters on my Ford 302 w/headers and H-pipe. I found them too loud.

Also check out Accurate Exhaust, stock pipes, stock mufflers, hangers, etc.

SS last forever but cost a bomb! But it is basically BOPO (buy once pay once)

I only need about 30 years and that's really pushing it.
Funny. I had to search for BOPO. Not your definition.

The Magna Flow system has an X-cross after the mufflers. I've only seen them ahead of the mufflers. Seems strange. What's the point?

I have magnaflow 3 chamber mufflers on my 66. If you want it quiet I wouldn't recommend them. I liked the hemi mufflers better.
I've had accurate aluminized tailpipes on there for over 20 years they still look good.

Avoid 3 inch pipe with X style crossover, the X -pipe changes the pitch/tone and is loud.

For cruiser try 2 1/4 with H- crossover and big turbo mufflers for more traditional quieter sound.

For a 69, definitely get the proper exhaust tips, straight pipe just does not look right.

Thanks Oregon! That's the kind of info I've been looking for. What benefit is the H-crossover compared to no crossover?

Are you keeping the two bbl, low performance manifolds? or swithching to the correct and matching hi-pi exhaust manifolds. I think if you duals on the low-po manifolds, it will need to be custom bent.
