Passenger side fresh air vent

My car was originally an AC car, but the AC is long gone, and I'd like to install a fresh air vent on the passenger side. I see some for sale on ebay, but they all look the same. I'm guessing the driver's side is much more common?

Is the passenger side different from the driver's side?

Also, is there a good source for the j-bolts? I've seen a few crusty ones on ebay for crazy money. Repop is fine if they are reasonable, or I suppose I can just bend up some threaded rod.

The passenger side is made into the heater box.

There is a passenger side only vent box for heater delete cars, but they are very rare. I saw one for sale here last year or the year before...

Wow. I do not think I ever saw one. If it does not have to be original you could take one off a heater box and modify it to look better fitment wise and put a block off plate in it.

Looking at one I have in the shop I can see it being modified relatively easy. Move the mounts and drill a couple fire wall holes to mount it in place.

You might be able to use one from a 63 to 66 A body. I had 4 of those cars & none had A/C , just heaters. I think all 4 had a similar passenger side vent, however they all had a little door with a lever type latch. You can make J bolts from threaded rods. I also had a 77 Dodge Van with factory A/C. I wanted fresh flow through air for the passenger side so I got the same type of box from a boneyard van without A/C. To be able to fit it and not block the air, I had to cut the lower section of trim below the glove box and it worked very well. Good luck!
