Air lifts the front corners of the hood under normal highway speeds.

Depending on the wind, the hood bounces against the rubber bumpers and I can see where this is causing indention on the underside of the hood. This will only get worse over time.

Am I missing something that would help secure the corners or redirect the air flow away from the hood corners?

I have no desire to install hood pins but am struggling to find another solution.

Thanks!

Adjust the hood latch. May need to tighten the rubber bumpers up tighter to the hood too.

adjust your hood latch down , your hood should be tight when latched, remember it has a double latch like the doors if it is only catching one click adjust up so it latches tight on the second

Rubber shrink's and compress's over time, adjust bumpers as needed. Good Luck

Can you drop the center latch ? Or raise adjustment on the corner rubbers ? Or a bit of both so its snug.

Almost has to be something you can easily adjust to hold tighter as others have described..... The rolled front on a '66-7 is dang tough compared to some of the other flat fronted hoods.

Pictures of your hood closed would let us see what adjustments are needed.

Thanks, I do agree with the comments…seems it would just be an adjustment issue.

All the rubber is new. The hood aligns great with the fenders and cowl currently and I don’t have any downward "give" when it is closed...so I feel it’s sitting on the bumpers well.

I did consider trying to drop the latch down a little, that seems the best point to get any tighter but what stopped me is that it is already a pretty hard close to get the second latch so I wasn’t sure if I should push it further.

@wvmarv I’m not sure what photo angles would be helpful so I’ve attached a few.

I appreciate all your input!

From the pictures. It almost looks like the right hinge has to go down a bit. That might keep it in check so you dont lose to much of the line up on your front hood corner and moulding . keep the back bolt tight( to keep your gap. ) And loosen the front bolt and close gently.
try to tilt , it should move. You dont need much to move alot.

Now that I see what your working with. With the hood closed & latched, try pressing down on the hinge and see if the hood closes a fraction. My brothers 66 has this issue, it's like a worn hinge issue, but it isn't. We can't figure it out? Good Luck

Thats what looks like ,my old 67 GTX had a similar issue. Theres not much give on those when you have to line up with the top of the grill.

If the fenders are level with the hood closed, I'd adjust the bumpers up to meet it.

If the hood is higher, I'd adjust the latch down, if possible.

Your responses were helpful and caused me look a lot harder at the issue overall. I was focusing too narrowly on the front corners.

I found that the bracket the latch is mounted on was loose, allowing the movement. I was able to fix this and the issue is resolved. This was also the cause of the hood being hard to latch as it had "give" when closing.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

It's so complicated it's simple!
