Guys,

My 64 dodge 330 max wedge is getting close to being ready for body/paint. Can anyone help me with the correct 1964 PPG, MOPAR, Dupont, etc.. paint code for EE1 Dark blue. Also, certain paint sites indicate 64 was dark blue poly.. and 65 is dark blue metallic.... I've had a few people tell me EE1 dark blue didn't change from 64 to 68.. Other places indicate it did change.
Can anyone clarify with absolute certainty?

I"m really confused on who is right and what the right color for 64 is and how to get it replicated.

ee-1 paint code

I have in front of me a Ditzler car color list. ee-1 paint is dark blue poly. and a old Ditzler paint # is12658. I hope this helps. you can also try TCP Global color library

thanks. I found a paint code sheet online says ppg/ditzler 12657

does anyone know if the color changed at all from 64 - 65 - 66 etc.. or is it all the same color? I saw an EE1 blue 65 and it had a decent amount of metallic in it.

does anyone have a 64 painted in EE1 blue... does it have metallic in it?

My 64 savoy is EE1 dk blue metallic.(poly)Yes it is metallic. 20140908_182616.jpg

Thanks guys. I do appreciate the confirmation and the pictures look awesome! Hopefully I'll have something as nice to show you all this spring.
bluemaxsavoy... love that 64 plymouth. Absolutely beautiful!

If the paint manufacture code is the same for different years the name doesn't matter, poly and metallic are the same thing. The car companies liked to change the names from year to year to jazz things up.

Just went through this a year ago and I feel your pain. Dark blue poly looked almost green. Blamed the mixer. Tried another and all looked like a little green to me. Color is a real problem. everyone perceives color differently. I would recommend test panels. Look at in the different Suns. Clouds and stuff really matter. I got really frustrated and ended up with a mix of late model base/clear with the newer style flecks. I think it is a mini van color with added metal. Materials have gotten so expensive you need to get it right the first time. Good luck. Patience. Test panels. Take your time it's your money..DCR

The car is headed to paint this fall. My painter worked up a test panel that looks awesome. I would call it identical to bluemaxsavoy's plymouth. well as close as pictures can tell anyways. Color looks good to me. i too have seen a few of the dark blue's that in certain light looked like there was a green hue. I will post a picture of the test panel on my 64 max wedge build post. thanks again guys for the help!!

Ancient post but just to add some documentation for those that go searching... I'm re-painting my car and when I took off one of the chrome strips I exposed some nice original factory unfaded '64 EE-1. It's the one in the middle.

Painting my 1964 Dodge 440 426S 4 speed this summer. Original color EE1 dark blue metallic with a white stripe down the side. When I looked around, I found PPG 12657 was the paint to use to match.
Post pictures when you finish, would love to see it.

Will do! Working out the second rear quarter at the moment. The rest looks pretty straightforward. Going with Deltron 2000 base/clear.

Looking forward to it.
Thank you

Yes, even though its an older thread thanks for posting the picture, i'm sure it will help someone in the future. I found out the hard way about how confusing mopar color names/ codes are when trying to look up my 64' codes.

Sooo, part 1: Tried to order paint today. DCC and DBC don't have mixing formulas for 12657. MTK and MBC do, but of course those are Omni which often matches less well. Bought a 1/2 pint of MBC. I'll shoot that tonight and compare it to my remaining spots of original EE-1. Will probably go with it but will consider '68 EE-1 if I don't like it, they have DCC and DBC formulas for that.

This is the MBC sample on an extra deck lid. I’m going for it.

Great looking color might even be almost a direct match to the factory original color.
MBC??? Don't know what that is.
However I was going to use PPG/Ditzler 12657.
Almost ready to Paint my 1964 Dodge 440 426 Street Wedge 4 speed 2 door sedan this summer. It came from the factory-paint code EE1.
After that, interior.
So let me know what part number you've come up with so that, if you're happy with the results, I might go the same route.
Let me know and send some photos after you've finished.
