71 Roadrunner Driveshaft noise

I have a driveshaft off one of my 71 Roadrunner projects and if you flip it end for end there is something inside sliding. Did they have an NVH damper inside the tube back then? It's from a 383/727
 
Sounds strange to me. Maybe a piece of weld slag from installing the yokes at the factory, or someone might have thrown something in there before it was welded up on the assembly line. I heard stories of people doing stuff like this on the factory floor.
 
Yes many drive shafts did have internal vibration dampeners, basically a rubber type donut with a piece of smaller diameter pipe in the middle of it Pressed into the shaft.

I've heard of beer cans in props before but whatever is in this one has some weight to it.
