Chrysler rocker bar vs Chevy Ball stud design?


Lenco is the obvious choice. The transmission manufacturers do recognize the gap that today's powerplants can out perform available transmission options. (Options that allow for limited street use.) I have an Ultrabell JW glide. To an 8-hole flexplate. (Engine's crank is drilled Hemi 8-hole.) The engine is big enough to accommodate both Chrysler and Chevy bellhousing bolt patterns. The JW PowerGlide can accommodate the 1200+ HP and 1100+ ft/lbs torque the mountain motor produces. But these glides heat up fast under any type of street application. This glide is typically for top alcohol use. Thus my problem.

I am hoping not to have the Lenco option with all them levers. So still exploring possible other options.

So just another dude wanting his cake and eat it too.
 
There is one place that a Chevrolet Rocker Ball fits on a Mopar. The clutch adjusting rod to the clutch arm pivot.

I started for the look. (And? That my friends were all Chevy guys.) Even Chevy boys admit Mopar has superior body lines of the Muscle car era. GM took less design chances. Thus a little plain looking in my opinion. Engine and drivetrain toughness was also the deal maker. I still tease my Chevy friends today that Mopar is the girl you really want to kiss. Are they higher maintenance? Yup. But so is that girl you never got!
 
I would get into what disappointments me about Mopar? But WAY too sensitive ears on this party line. So will stick to its strengths.

I believe this is so with any valve train change where additional lift is desired. SB Chevy's lived with 1.5s for years with their standard pressed in 3/8 stud. But once that started changing? Screw in studs became preferable. Now? I believe any performance build is 7/16 stud. I'm really not up on my "Today's Chevy." Not even sure what Today's higher LS engine design has in its valve train? But I would be surprised if anything near their LT1 days? But again. I could be wrong.
 
There are plenty of shortcomings in Mopars, the shaft mounted rockers aren't one of them.. Yes the production stamped rockers are cheap & basic... But so are the Chevy stamped rockers... I see kits to mount shafts on Chevys... I don't see kits to use studs on Mopar... The reason for the ball stud Hemi wasn't cause they thought it would be better.. It was because they knew it would be cheaper..
 
One question -
How many Mopars have you seen where the pushrod poked thru the end of the rocker arm?

And don't get be started with "Bottons, knobs, locks, switches, ect..) if a window crank breaks in your hand? It's likely a Mopar. Electrical? Yuck! My GTX turn signal lever and plastic switch is so cheap I cringe to use. And when I do? Gently. But still love them

The suspension? Probably the best American design from the time frame... The brakes? Bigger drums & more standard discs than any American manufacturer... Power steering box? Near the bottom of the pack, actually no, that would be the Ford/Corvette assist cylinder crap... Axles & Trans? Solid well engineered stuff... Electrical? Between the Ammeter/Bulkhead connector & the lack of relays.... Mopar failed....But to be honest the other manufacturers had plenty of problem areas too....
 
Putting a roller cam in your Mopar you needed the correct length pushrods and adjustable rockers (usually you found used 273 ones or Isky or Cranes for your big block). On a Chevy, well after pulling the rocker studs out a few times and spitting pushrods you ended up buying screw in studs and guide plates in addition to the better rockers and pushrods. Lets not talk about the Chevy guys that swapped Mopar 4 speeds and Dana rear ends into their cars after spitting the GM stuff onto the streets. Mopar stuff was stronger and didn't wheel hop, you can't win a street race when you break stuff.
 
My favorite comment to guys bench racing is "A Chrysler Gear Reduction Starter puts out more horsepower than a stock Chevrolet Smallblock.
 
I wouldn’t say Chrysler electrical is sub par.. have you ever worked on a ford, I would rather replace my window knob then the regulator in a door on ford super duty,speaking of light bulbs being out look on the road today GM still has more burned out light bulbs than any one else... Bet me a beer that truck coming at you with high beams on and one burned out light bulb is a Chevy truck or it’s dressed up little brother...Food for thought they all have issues or the dealers wouldn’t have service bays! Including foreign cars like Toyota and Honda .

GM may have more burned out bulbs, but I've seen more Fords with one headlight really dim, like it was getting six volts.
