debating on a console or no console

It's a bucket seat car.

Which do yall prefer?

Your car, your call….what do you prefer? I would leave it as a no console car if it were mine.

like the look of the no console. Just don't want to regret it. Adding it later would be a pain

I like having the console. And the console pistol grip is a better looking deal that coming out of a bare floor. Too plain.

Your car, your call. Me personally I like having the armrest, much more comfortable for me.

No. Cost, rattles, junk collector, misaligned lid for good measure. Take the thousand and spend it elsewhere.

I had a factory console for my '63 I was going to put in; but drove the car a couple years without a console and the expanse of empty space kinda bugged me having been accustomed to a console and cup holders and an elbow rest in the daily rides. The factory console though wouldn't accommodate any of this so sold it. I had bought a leather covered console out of a Lincoln at a swap meet for 10 bucks eons ago that I had stowed in my attic forgetting about it until finding I missed a console for my java fixes. I wasn't concerned though about a stock look and is something that can be removed. Took some doing to do this as the console has an idiot light bar I wired up for other stuff, machined an aluminum plate for 2 extra gauges, and the insert for two cup holders. Serves me well when cruising and yeah...more storage for crap in the console.

my 66 coronet has a console and glad it did cause i needed the cup holders. i modded it to add them

Lol, used to be ya couldn't have enough ash trays and today it's cup holders. I already got 3 ash trays and the stock console had two more! FIVE friggin ash trays? I never smoke in the car and ain't no way that's gonna happen while I'm around.

Console— gives it a finished look. My RT is column shift auto with no seat or anything. Yes it will have a buddy seat installed.

I've put buddy seats in my last 2 cars. I like the armrest of the seat and really don't care for consoles. Especially if you have to get under the dash.

x2 on the buddy seat.

I know no one is asking; but thought since we're on the topic, I'd post a few photos of my console project (it's also been upon photo gallery I think). Some pics show the original color, darker red before I changed the color. Had a stash of sheet metal to fab the brackets and required drilling two holes (there were other holes I connected with). Had to make a base plate to elevate the rear of the console. One photo shows the beginning of an apron template for the sides of the thing that I later profiled. Upholstery guy made the padded covers for them. I rewired the light bar for turn signals, brake lights, and headlights 'on'. Fun part (more like beeitch) was mating the triangular shaped insert that houses the cup holders working against half dozen 'profiles'. I made a 3rd hold down bracket; but was surprised after installing the two, the works were pretty solid so left that one out. For a stock add I'd be ousted, lol; but it serves all purposes I was hoping for.

I took the console out and added a buddy seat.

The numbers guys will say no, if it's not a numbers matching car, big block, rare, go for it !!! Why not a so much needed it in this days, a coffee mug holder, or place for a screen radio system just saying.

I have one on my '70 4spd car and I like the looks....but if I had a time machine and I was ordering a '70 new, I would get the buckets, but no console. That shifter is the most convoluted Munster Mobile shifter ever made; the non-console shifter a little less in length and gyrations. I like the pistol grip, but I also like the shortest possible throw, and prefer the '71 and later shifter.

I like the buddy seat idea. Not a numbers car. I don't even think I own the fender tag

I have a spare one that I was contemplating selling, even have the hard to find mounting brackets with it.
