Steve Benoit aka themoparwhisperer is broken down and stranded near OKC. His trusty Slant put the #6 rod through the block and he's 1,400 miles from home. If any members in the area have a running Slant he can use to get back home he'd be forever grateful. If you're on IG message him directly or let me know here and I'll relay the message.

Hopefully he gets on his way... tell 'em I said that '65 needs a 340 anyway.

What's he doing out at 1:55am?

A slant 6 threw a rod? How does that happen on a 100 HP engine?

Curious minds need to know.

If he is indeed the moparwisperererereeer he should be able to control those rods and tame them.. Just kidding good luck to the guy It sucks when ya sling a rod. I threw one in a honda accord and the motor oil came through the firewall and was torching my legs and feet.

Guys I'm in CT, he is in Oklahoma, I really don't know the particulars of the situation. He posted this on IG today so I offered to put the word out and see if there was an outside chance someone nearby had something laying around he could use.

On Mom's '62 Lancer GT the oil pump drive gear broke after 215,000 miles. I ended up replacing everything in the block except 3 rods!

My first car was a 65 Dart with the /6. Went over 300,000 miles and still going when I sold it! Virtually indestructible! Wish I still had it! Extremely rare to hear of a slant letting go like that.

Then she went another 75,000 on my rebuild! She traded it in on an '85 K-Car and put 185,000 on that. At the time I couldn't cover the trade, $500, so I don't know where the car is now.
