Just looking for any feedback from people's experiences. Got a 493 BB with Alum heads and a torker 2 intake, milder cam motor was built for cruising (torque monster) in my 68 Charger. I have broken in the motor on a stand with a carburetor, now looking at maybe going fuel injection and I have a MSD Atomic EFI that I was wanting to put on. Any stories good or bad???

Thanks
Jamie

I have one on my 5.7 RR and am happy.

have one. been running great for about five years now.

my fuel gauge left me high and dry recently but thats non-atomic related.

there are other options out there now.

MSD is part of Holley now so both products are probably cousins

I've been running mine for 5 years on the Charger (383).
Unfortunately since Holley bought MSD this product is no longer being developed and expanded.
You should get the latest firmware versions for the hand held and the controller (I think 3 are required).
In the end you should get a locked out distributor and let it control the timing.
Otherwise you will have issues when you decelerate quickly and come to a stop.

But initially I would suggest using your distributor as is to eliminate one variable.

Carefully set the throttle plate adjustment as they describe to allow the IAC valve to function in the prescribed range.

The hand held display is kind of chincy but it does work well and is easy to install.

Mine has a lean tip in issue but that may be eliminated if I do a total reset and let it learn again.

But going down the road it runs real well and the ability to tune while driving is both dangerous and addictive, be careful.

They have kind of a users group/Tech forum which is helpful but I haven't looked at it for while now. It's harder to find than it used to be.

I have an Atomic on my 67 GTX. Best thing I’ve ever done for the car!!

I installed the Msd atomic on my 69 Charger and I had several issues. My cam specs were within their guidelines but I am right at the 525 horespower maximum. Setting the Iac was impossible, I sent it back and MSD replaced the Iac motor and the injectors that where very loud. The Tec line was not very helpful. The idle was inconsistant and the car ran hot. I took it to have it proffesionally tuned and dynoed and they just said that wasnt much they could do with it. (It is not lap top tunable) I know several people that have it on a stock engine and it works just fine. I switched to the Holley Super Sniper system with their coil and distributor and couldnt be happier. It ran great with no issues from day 1!! So I have a MSD system for sale!

I do, mainly because I have a MSD Hemi 6 Controller.
