I can HEAR it clicking....but I'll be damned if I can FIND it!!

'70 Charger, factory a/c car, standard rallye gauges (non-working clock, not a tach).

My turn signals work...but they blink annoyingly fast, so I want to replace the flasher and try to get them to a normal speed (yes, all lights work and yes, all lights are incandescent, not LEDs, so the flasher has a factory electrical load on it).

It sounds like the flasher is inside the a/c airbox at the base of the steering column? Or is it above it and I just can't get to it without pulling the cluster out again? I have a sneaking suspicion that if I have to pull the cluster...I'll just live with fast turn signals...

Not sure exactly where on a Charger, but on my 70 GTX it’s tucked under the dash just above the emergency brake pedal

its in a holder near the steering column if i recall correctly. if the flashers are blinking rapidly i would check all the chassis grounds to the lights first.

If you pull the ashtray completely out like you would when you empty it, you may be able to access it there. I have mine routed along side the steering column where I can get to it easily. You may also have to take out the ashtray assembly which is a few screws and disconnect the light and cig lighter. good luck.

As Beekeeper suggested.. check all grounds, bad grounds do goofy things.

I had the column out of its mount (still hanging, but not bolted up). I had the ashtray and its base (including the lighter) out. I've had the wire cluster out from over the e-brake pedal - that's just the headlight relay, and the horn relay, on my car.

I had the signals on while I was hunting around, and it sounds for all the world like it's on the firewall side of the hvac box, under/in front of the cluster. It could be in front of the cluster, on top of the hvac box...I couldn't get my hands up there, too much stuff in the way.

I'll doublecheck all my grounds. Signals are (each side) 2 bulbs in the rear, one bulb up front, and the hood indicators, yes? They all work...I'd think if they're working, the grounds would be good...but I'll re-check everything to be safe.

Appreciate the tips, thanks!

Flashers are service units, expected to need replacement periodically, so they didn't "hide" them...
unless of course someone has been up under there in the past, "restoring" or some such and
has managed to tuck it somewhere invisible or inaccessible?

Put a heavy duty flasher in it. These are made to accommodate increased loads, such as additional lights when towing a trailer. The increased load of trailer lights will make a regular flasher blink quickly.

hazzards flasher is around brake pedal area, turning signals is attached to the ashtray housing... If everything is correct both are attached ( to brake pedal brackets and ashtray housing ) with this clip

usually serviceable without pull anything out but just the flasher itself from the clip, then reinstall the replacement on same location just clipping it on
