What is your definition of an unmolested car?

I see an "unmolested car" in the same class as a survivor so as it left the showroom....original everything except service parts a replacements for failed parts.....but all original bodywork and NO paintwork. My own view is that a "survivor" that's had a full respray in its life is NOT a survivor. I know many others will have a different view!

Simple answer.. still intact as originally built.

Unmolested could mean nobody fixed anything. Good pictures tell the story. Like many terms have different meanings to everybody.

Molested means that someone violated it. It doesn’t mean it’s in good shape or new.

So to me it means it is very original and only had maintenance items replaced. But the paint and interior could be worn out due to age.

Examples:
original HP BB swapped for a Smog engine or a 318
Dana 60 gone and a one legger installed.
Dah cut up for stereo and gauges.
accident damage poorly repaired.

that is molested to a car.

Unmolested? Normal wear and tear. Tune ups and year to year service Original paint , original interior and not strayed away of suspension upgrades. Its a tough word unmolested. A car thats been used alot. Then put away
Could qualify. Till someone finds it in a barn. Then the future owner decides its worth restoring. Now its no longer a unmolested car. Thats my take. When I see a shiny car in a show. That word does come up from the owner. But its clear changes were made.

Molested to me is these and calling it a “restoration”
Aluminum radiator
green axle bearings
Amp meter bypass
One wire alternator
White face gauges
Hood blackout in white
Welded up box mufflers
Mini starter
LED bulbs
GM HEI beach bucket distributor cap
TTI headers and 3” pipe
POR 15

Before you get pissed because you like these modifications. Read the title again. They have a good use, just not on a “restoration”

Out of all of the posts so far, I can agree with this one....

An engine compartment that has been painted in a color that doesn't match the car is not unmolested.
A car that has been repainted and had the trunk floor replaced is not unmolested.
A car that has visibly missing parts is not unmolested.
Seats that have been reupholstered are not unmolested.

Take a deep breath buddy... your the victor now.

I like to use the term "relatively unmolested".

Hard to define in detail, but I know it when I see it.

"Unmolested" means a car that hasn't been dicked-up with ridiculous mods, and retains the spirit of originality. A restoration is, by definition, "molestation" of the previous state of the vehicle.

My Satellite had one repaint in the original color, Keystone wheels, dual exhaust, and a CB and third brake light added.

However, I considered it almost totally "unmolested".
