I Send My Ammeter Gauge Out To Classic Instruments To Get Converted To a Voltmeter..

Just Wondering What Other Changes I Need To Do To The Wiring Harness For This Change To Volts?

Thank You

Geeze, yet another ammeter bypass article based on a false pretense.

“The major ammeter drawback is all the charging system current flows from the alternator through the bulkhead to the ammeter. Then from the ammeter, the current must pass back through the bulkhead to the rest of the charging system.”

The bulkhead connectors in the charge circuit are by-far the weakest link, not the ammeter. Adding electrical loads, correctly-on the alternator side of the ammeter (as are all the factory loads), will NOT result in added stress to the ammeter or related connections while in operation. The ammeter will only register charge/discharge current going to and from the battery, nothing to do with alternator capacity or total vehicle loads, factory or otherwise if wired correctly.

I didn't get the patiente this time to explain it... once more.

My ammeter just failed, I imagine that a loose connection at it or some other cause made the insulator when out and shorted the gauge. No real smoke or smell, but all I know now is there power to the ammeter but not out, causing no power in the car all together.

I agree with 72roadrunnergtx but that would mean me finding a new ammeter which aren’t that easy to find for a 69 standard cluster without paying $125 plus. For now I will bypass it, after a thorough inspection of the wiring to it and to the ‘splice’ that feeds the rest of the car.

I have separate volt meter gauge which will give some indication as to what is going on but yes not the same information as the ammeter.. the car essentially almost always has no electrical load on it. Radio delete, never use the heater or lights etc....

Still have my ammeter, Still working as expected, car has not burned to the ground like most will tell you,,,

Sorry Nacho. I'm probably the reason you've lost the patience, lol. There are MANY posts on this topic for reference!
