What is your definition of an unmolested car?

Molested or Unmolested is just a poorly chosen word/s
to use in the 1st place...
Especially to use in an advertisement
to attempt to sell something,
that obviously "has been messed with before"

splitting hairs maybe

mostly stock or mostly original
lightly modified, messed with some :poke:
a few replacement parts used
or minor day 2 regular mods

but;
being Molested ?
That sounds like it was violated, improperly touched
like being in a back room in DC at a convention with Joe

That word/description
really starts it all off, really bad to begin with
especially when it's not even an accurate statement
to describe something
especially something that isn't Unmolested
it just opens it up for even more negative criticism
it's put that seed/thought in someone's head
like the car was violated, touched inappropriately, abused
or "molested"...
I'm sure that's what many will think
even if it's just changing a few parts, or day 2 mods

Hey good bud nics buddy..how's it going...yep I was slow on the draw to respond to this link here plus I'm at work...I hope I don't get in trouble. But hey I'm still here buddy.

My opinion is let's say fender well headers like Kurt's 69 GtX from the movie 52 pickup is outright molestation. Any cutting of metal ...blow holes in the floor for different seats.

I probably will keep my charger and start a restoration page so we can all be united as one because if not we're divided like our nation. I do realize we have to support our fellow man in these trying times and not bicker over words like unmolested.

Bud nics is see you're logged in.. how bout insane in the membrane? Group hug now!!!

Well, according to one very old classic car website I found, there's this:
"Survivor: An original, unrestored, unmolested antique car that is in good enough condition to be used
as a model for the restoration of a similar car."
It at least appears to equate "survivor" with "unmolested"...

To me, unmolested means the car has been maintained in original condition (replacement parts allowed)
and that no resto-modding or anything else has been done to it to change it from the way it was
built.
You start swapping metal, drivetrain components, changing colors - you ain't unmolesting anymore.

I will say my thought was a car that was never cut, drilled or welded on as in frame connectors as example.

I molest mine every time I drive it. It's a masochist & I got to keep it happy.

I really learned the definition of a Survivor car when we were putting on a car show at Chrysler one year. A guy I worked with brought two 1970 super bee's. His was a total survivor front to back in Hemi orange and a dual quad 426, 4 speed with around 80 to 90 thousand miles on it. His wife's was the exact same car totally restored to brand new. His was an original Hemi car, while hers was a hemi also, it started life as a 383, 4 speed originally. His car was a bit faded and under the hood it looked clean, but not bright and new. His car was worth more than hers being a low number Hemi and a survivor. It was fun looking back and forth at them, being identical in every way, except, one had never been touched, only driven and the other had every square inch touched and everything repaired or replaced. Huge difference.

This is the closest to survivor i believe i ever owned, this was a year after y2k, matching #s, original pant and column shift bench interior, had turn downs instead of side exhaust, hood might off been repaired and im sure a few other things than battery and hoses weren't original.
