Does anyone know if they make a cap to cover the the speedometer side of the Trans?
My Speedo is broken and makes alot of noise. Until I get it taken out I want to disconnect the speedo cable at the trans and cap it.

That will not work as the trans end is threaded.

My buddy took the speedo gear housing and filled it with RTV in the end where the shaft comes out.....worked like a charm. Just pop the gear/shaft out and clean it up good and seal it off and re-install. When it comes time to use it again, just pull the RTV out and re-install the gear and done!

The easier solution to disconnect the cable from the speedo and leave it connected to the trans. Or course, if it still makes noise, then you'll know its your cable not your speedo making the noise.

Just pop a plastic or rubber cap over the threads to keep the dust out of the cable hole, it shouldn't be leaking any fluid! BUT make sure you secure the cable end so it doesn't fall out of the casing.

Here U go... This guy provides a nice machined plug..

If you just want to unhook your speedo until you get it fixed/replaced why would you want to pull the gear out of the transmission, when you can just rubber cap it until you get the speedo done?
