After running 440 for few hrs and parking for days , and cking fuel filter, which appears to be mostly empty, do we think trying a ck valve between pump and carb might help ? 67 440 Gtx thermoquad carb , carter pump , all fresh , just curious!

My 65 413 is the same way, barely any fuel in the filter when running, but mine is mounted horizontal so it doesn't drain back. Runs/Starts great

Ok thanks , on this fuel line install the filter stands in a vertical away from any metal parts but appears to drain back , have considered trying ck valve tween pump and carb , just to see ! Thought someone has been there and done it !

I’m interested in a solution to this also, after sitting for a couple of days, the carb, filter, and vapor canister are all empty, on my 69 GTX.
I’ve read of a number of people on this forum that install an electric ‘booster’ pump, but
I’m not there yet

Yes , I to have read all those post, but sure all modern cars have ck valves in the system to stop drain back and it’s an inexpensive part to try , will report back !

My 1967 R/T does the same thing. I think I wear the motor out just getting it started, more than actually driving it. I used to blame it on "drainback", but think it is more related to volatility of today's fuel, and it is just evaporating. My car stinks the garage up for days after a day's use.

I understand, this definitely a problem!

I put a cheap electric fuel pump on my 83 dodge van near the gas tank to push the fuel up to the mechanical pump. Works good !

Yup your dealing mostly with evaporation. Tony Tee has the right idea if your dead set on running a mechanical pump with a carb. Otherwise your faced with converting to all electric system which is what I ran on my Charger for years. Holley blue pump with regulator is about as bullet proof as you can get with out breaking the bank. EFI is getting more and more affordable today and the benefits address all the complaints most have with the shitty gas we're forced to use nowadays
