So far I have made some good passes this year but haven't been able to win a single round in 4 races.
I keep having to sort out small issues. I'll make 2 good time shots and then something happens for the first round.
New engine, trans and converter.
The car runs well but 60 ft. times suck.
Best ever et was last week. 9.64@ 134.
Mph was down because I was on a 9.70 dial...
Mph has been 138-139 range.
60 ft. times have been 1.39-1.40.
Converter is 8 " stalls about 5500, but I footbrake so I'm pushing through at about 2700.
This past Sunday I was at a Nostalgia race at Island Dragway near my house. It was hot.
1st 2 timeshots were 9.743 and 9.745.
Got a 3rd timeshot due to low car count. Did my burnout and heard an exhaust leak. Staged the car and pushed through the beam. On the return road it seemed louder but really didn't pay much attention to it.
Cooled the car down and went up for first round. Did my burnout and they shut me down. He said he saw water dripping .
I started it back up and he said it was OK.
That threw me off so I lost. Packed up and went home.
Yesterday after work I pulled my rear shocks to look everything over. I looked forward and saw light coming through the front of my collector on drivers side.
A 16" piece of slip on header tube was gone.
I decided to drive back to the track and look along side of the road.
Got all the way to the track and the manager was just locking the gate. I asked if he saw the pipe. He said he did but didn't remember where. He let me in and I found it on the side of the return road.
Anyway, I'm going to be replacing the old koni shocks and springs this year and probably build a trans brake trans for next year.
Hopefully all the small issues are taken care of and I can get back to racing instead of worrying.
A couple other things were;
Window net not latching for a first round.
Passenger door not shutting
Weld on distributor lock out broke
Header tube fell off once previously but I thought I had it fixed.
Header gasket blew out
And more I can't think of now.
