Hey guy's I'm in the process of gathering all the parts I need as I'm replacing my drivetrain and suspension. I already bought front and rear Bilstein shocks and I've run into a problem. I'm removing the iso junk from the rear end as I'm replacing the leaf springs and swapping to an 8 3/4 rear as well. I welded washers into the large holes in the perches on my 8 3/4 rear and I ordered a set of son iso shock plates. I was looking at my early non iso shock plates and decided to test fit the Bilstein shocks onto them. Is the shock mount stud thinner on the 73 than the earlier b body's ? The rubber bushing on the bottom of the shock fits on the stud but definitely does not if I have to use the metal sleeves that go inside the shock. I'm not sure if the metal sleeves are required or not.

Not sure if all do but some of those shock studs unscrew.

I'm honestly just curious if you need the metal sleeve to go in the rubber bushing or if you can just slide the rubber bushing over the mounting stud. If the answer is yes your need the sleeve then either these shocks or the shock plates are not going to work.

The sleeve is there to limit how tight the nut squeezes the rubber bushing. The thicker diameter shock mounts don't need the sleeve because the nut threads are smaller than the main part where the shock goes. Meaning that you can only tighten the nut, but so far and so the sleeve is not needed.
I did the same when I deleted the ISO stuff on my 74 Road Runner.
