Rust free dessert 71 Charger R / T project.

I pulled a 71 Charger out of AZ last year, not a RT but a Hardtop, going to be a restomod. I completely agree with the SW cars being worth the effort.

I know KD,I put an extra s in desert! But I don't like Chargers with good taste,I like Chargers that taste good! Now don't go getting yourself banned over my spelling errors!
 
Does your buddy live in oakdale area where u stored the car in trailer? If so, i know who ur talking about. Great guy with lots of Mopars.....

My dessert is rust-free, also. I like sprinkles, chocolate syrup, a little whipped cream. But, Never any rust on it.
 
Always cheaper to buy a rust free car and have it shipped to where ever you live, then it is to repair a rusty car.

Thanks, I have been fixing rust buckets for decades, but 4 of the last 5 I bought came from California or Arizona. The two 70 Charger R/T cars out of California are about 85 percent rust free,the 73 Charger out of LA was 95 percent rust free, but the roof under the vynal top was wasted. And this Arizona desert 71 Charger R/T is the best out of the four cars that I have from out west.
 
I figured; new it looked familar. I live right down the road. You should of stopped and bought my car on the way; u can always use another car, right!!

I hear ya; he can never turn down a good deal; lol. I always tell him that. He needs to go on that hoarding show for Mopars.
 
I always seem to prefer the 68-70 bodies, but will say that that one trips my trigger. Honestly don't know how you keep track of multiple restorations going on at once. I have a hard enough time with one ripped apart. :drinks:

I pulled the 440 that was in the car out today and put it on a stand. It is not the matching numbers engine. It appears to be a 72 440 4 barrel engine from a Chrysler New Yorker. I will pull it apart to access it's condition to see if it is a usable core engine for a build.
 
I have another 72 440 block thats freshly bored 0.30 that I might use to build a new engine for this car since the matching numbers is long gone.

It's a little tight but I pulled two engines and a transmission, and swapped an engine off the stand and swapped the engine from this car onto the engine stand. Not a bad day.
