My 67 GTX doesn't have a clock. I recently bought this 66 Satellite and was going through the dash since I had to put a new harness in. I had never paid much attention to the clock since it didn't work and I've driven the car very little. When I removed it to clean it and put a quartz movement in it, only then did I realize you can't read the lower part of the clock dial.

I grabbed this off the internet but mine looks exactly like this one so I guess it's correct. I realize a person is looking down on to the face but I don't think that makes that much difference - but the clock isn't in the car at the moment.

Right??? I guess those Chrysler engineers didn't figure the time between 4 and 8 was important to anyone? Very strange.

You can still tell the time unless you're from a newer generation. I have a niece that can't tell time unless it's in a digital format. :BangHead::BangHead:

Looks like you either have the wrong bezel, or the movement is wrong? You sure you got the right parts?

Once the clock is in the dash you will notice that you can see the entire face of it looking at it from the driving position. It was made that way intentionally.

When sitting in the car you are look down at the clock and the dial is centered on the chrome surround at that angle.

Nothing wrong, parts are correct.

Blame the schools. They used to teach that stuff to preschoolers. Now nobody under the age of 17 can even write in cursive because they don't teach it anymore.

were did you get the quartz part, mine doesn't work either. And id like to get it fixed

That had occurred to me but I didn’t think the angle was great enough to allow viewing the bottom of the dial. But I guess that would explain why I didn’t notice it before removing the clock from the dash.

I’m going to clean and test mine first but the reference for a quartz conversion I found is from Instrument Services, kit S-3015 for 66/67.

I've always thought that was odd.

I got lucky. After filing the points and cleaning/oiling the works, I hooked it up to the battery and it started right up and ran smoothly for a half hour until I disconnected it. Won’t need that quartz movement for now.

At least until it takes a dump again! Good Luck
Yeah, I had a watchmaker give mine a tune up. Worked great, but gained 20 minutes a day 'til it finally died again. Go quartz - I converted mine 5 years ago & it never misses a beat!

I understand but I figure as long as it works, it works. I use a battery cutoff on my cars when they are parked so the clocks are never going to be set correctly anyway and if not set correctly, who knows or cares if they keep accurate time? Works is works. Sort of like windshield wipers - I never drive my cars in bad weather, never use the wipers and don't even keep windshield washer fluid in the reservoirs - but if the wipers and washer are in working order, well if anybody asks - they work.

I should say that at the time I did mine, I was playing around with horology things so for me this was unchartered waters with clocks. I did file mine like you but that lasted about 6 months before it died again. I may have borked something at the time, I'll never know, to many moons ago? Good Luck

Some of the mechanical clocks back from that time had a speed adjustment feature. If the clock was running fast, every time you reset the clock backwards, it would slow the clock down a little. So supposedly After several resets of the time, the speed of the clock would get closer and closer and closer to right on. The same feature would work if the clock was running slow.
