I'm still wrestling with a suspension issue on my 65 Satellite. As posted in a previous thread I can't maintain the ride height adjustment. After adjustment the right side "sags" or lowers itself almost to the bump stop no matter how much I adjust the bolt. The torsion bar cross member is solid, I've replace all the front end bushings. Could it be that I have the "same side" torsion bars in the car (they were in the car when I bought it). I found a torsion bar chart which seems to indicate that it may be a possibility. Below are photos of the numbers on the end of the bars....the 777 number is on both bars (last three digits of the part numbers posted on the chart) should I have a 776 and a 777? Appreciate any and all comments.

They should not be the same number. The two numbers represent R/L as the are bent opposite of each other.

Yes you should have a 776 (pass) and a 777 (driver). That said, I suspect your adjusters bolt threads are stripped.

Fully agree with dadsbee. Based on what you report as the issue, I'd replace these first.

Thanks for the quick responses! Honestly, what a relief to finally figure out (with your help)!!!!!

Awesome thread and with a helpful picture!!! I mixed up my torsion rods when I removed them to restore them. I was guessing which was left and which was right. Now, I know for sure! Should be a helpful sticky!

On all part numbered pairs such as torsion bars, leaf springs and such, the even numbered part always goes on the passenger side.

I might suspect the preload clocking on the torsion bar as a possible cause for the limited adjustment. If they’ve ever been out for a front end bushing rebuild, they could’ve been put back in without enough preload.

You have two left bars. I had a similar problem on my 66 except it was the left side I could not get up off the stop. Part of the problem was they managed to miss the seat in the pivot tang with the bolt tip and it was running up beside it. After fixing that it was better but I still ran out of adjustment and upon examining the bars I discovered they were swapped side for side. I then installed PST bars and everything adjusted OK although I did have to crank the left side bolt in a little more than the right side - but this does not seem to be unusual.
