What are you doing this Memorial Day weekend?

WTF its 49 outside and raining
I was going to take a motorcycle ride tomorrow but that ain't happening
Mason dixon dragway canceled today. Im not sure about tomorrow

Likely canceled tomorrow as well - I live 10 minutes from there and it's supposed to be just as shitty tomorrow as it was today (45, gray, wet, foggy).

I worked on a rental apartment some today - paint, trim, spackle. Cut toe guards for the new kitchen cabinets. Got to where I need materials (construction adhesive, gallon of paint, couple sticks of quarter round molding) and called it a day. I'll grab materials tomorrow; I spent the rest of this afternoon being a slug on the recliner watching NCIS New Orleans reruns.

This weather is crap. Totally anti-motivational. At least I got grass cut yesterday before all this junk hit.

Edit to my previous post. WARNING, GRAPHIC CONTENT!!!

Shortly after I posted my previous content a good buddy showed up with a cooler of fish for us. Besides some nice whitefish there was the usual selection of large northern pike. When they come from the ice cold depths of Great Slave Lake they are delicious. The lake still has ice on it, so...
We’ve all heard the stories of the things that are sometimes found in the bellies of pike; frogs, ducklings, little muskrats etc.
This one had a large other fish in it. Now fish eat fish, that’s well known. What surprised us was the size of the fish in the belly. The big fish was probably around 15 pounds, the fish in the belly perhaps two.
Another photo is of another big pike, with battle scars from a even bigger fish trying to eat it.

Resting up with tweaked back from moving heavy stuff in the garage cleanup. Missed a card game with friends today, cause i couldnt bend over to pull up my pants.
Gonna kick back the rest of today, watch Indy tomorrow, and wish the nascar race was on tv in the afternoon.

Been raining since last night. This weekend is a washout because of rain and temperatures in the 50’s. Went to start my Superbird and my AGM battery of 9 years took a dump

Totally crazy in Carolina. 90's with brutal humidity last week, 40's and rain right now.

Beautiful weather here. Today I got a few things done in the garage, mowed the lawn and had a much needed nap as I enjoyed my first day off since May 20th. Planning to cook on the grill and drive the Satellite tomorrow. I'll be working a 12 hour shift on Monday. Great war movies on TMC this weekend including The Dirty Dozen, The Great Escape, and one of my all time favorites, Kelly's Heroes.

It's cold (mid-40s) raw and rainy here all weekend long so doing anything outside is out.
Really?
Man...it is high 80s, sunny and great here.
I went "junkyarding" since the self serve yards have a 1/2 price weekend going on. It doesn't really matter that much since the stuff we like shows up so rarely now, you GRAB it when you can no matter the cost.
I'm looking at 2003-2008 Hemi cars and trucks for a rebuildable core for my 360,000 mile truck.
I did see an 85 Fifth Avenue. Those have 15 x 7 wheels that are a nice upgrade for cars with 14 inch wheels. I have 20 or more 14" steel wheels that I don't think I'll ever use.
I changed the steering wheel in the 2007 truck. Two years ago I checked with the dealer about a NOS one....$437!
The original had worn through the leather years ago and had tape wrapped around it. 30 minutes to swap the wheel for wheel. $23 at a self serve yard!

Nice! Are you able to locate and purchase a tail shaft extension housing with the output shaft from a 2WD 545RFE Transmission?

It’s a simple item to unbolt from the transmission and doing so will leave the yard with a 545RFE that’s for a 4WD application (as that’s where the transfer case will bolt up to) so they’ll still have profitable trans to sell.

Yards in my area won’t separate transmission parts......

Egag items aren’t clear as to including the output shaft. Although it’s visible in pic #1, it’s certainly not included in pic #5.

Doing a Front of Engine Service (FOES) on thr Porsche. Timing and balance shaft belts, water pump, cam tower seals, front crank shaft seal, oil pump seals, new hoses, distributor cap and rotor and whatever else pops up "while I am in there". Typically this should be done every 3 years or 40k. I am a little over in years but not mileage. It ranges around $500-600 for all the parts, but costs about $1400 to have a shop do it. I have done it before and have all the special tools required. Now I have to order the parts.

Working on it I get into a kid of zen place where I can do the work in peace and think about all my buddies that never came home. That is my Memorial Day weekend.

My cousin who I consider a daughter, her husband is a Gold Star family member having lost his father KIA in May of 1970.
Ive made it a point to always call him over Memorial Day weekend and will do so today or tomorrow.
He, my cousin and their little girl are always at some Memorial Day functions on Monday.
One year he even was invited to the White House over the Memorial Day weekend for a brunch with the POTUS as part of a group of Gold Star Families

Nice and sunny here in Northern NV. Mostly nursing a knee issue...it's called Banker's Cyst...https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/bakers-cyst/symptoms-causes/syc-20369950...that has been nagging me all month. So it gives me time to remember the 3 close Friends I lost and are on the Viet Nam Memorial, along with all the others that have given the ultimate sacrifice. The many KIA repatriations I flew throughout my USAF career, the sight and smell of those Flagged draped metal containers just never leaves you. To me this weekend isn't about anything else more importantly than remembering. I will spill some of my drink tomorrow so that my Brothers and Sisters may share in my libation...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

You are confusing me! I was out looking for a 03-08 Hemi for a core. I have not been actively looking for a transmission....yet.
My truck is a 2 wheel drive so when I do look, I'll just look for an exact replacement.

That is ONE thing we don't see out West.....wild temperature swings and unpredictable weather.
