I have this one in unknown working condition. What you see in the pics is what I have for it.

I have nothing else for it and I believe it’s threaded but will verify on Monday.

I’m going to guess it was threaded and upon closer inspection this one appears to have those threads broken off. I’m sure it’s repairable wether that stem is long enough to add threads or the stem is replaceable. Maybe a place like Bob’s Speedometer has parts for it. Anyway still a very presentable clock. $85 + shipping with this new knowledge.

These pictures show what the stem look like. There are two flat sides at the base of the threads.
The knob engages the flat surfaces of the stem. The "barrel" screw locks the knob to the stem.
Don't be confused by the 2nd picture. The knob goes on the stem first, then the barrel screw is installed into the knob and then tighten on the stem threads.
I also included a pic of the screw driver that I used.

Also good to notice the “button” in the middle of the clock. There’s silver, gold and black with silver around the edge. I don’t know if they come off to swap.
