Trust me it happens, the car in front of me at the gas station drove away with the fill hose about 3 weeks ago.
 
there is no self serve in jersey, although many of us do it ourselves; especially in a classic........there is no way I'd let a modern day gas attendant near my car or bike.

I cannot believe people don't hurt themselves doing the self serve thing
 
older brother was managing a Getty early in the 80s and gave me a job pumping gas.......had someone try to get away without paying and ripped the hose off the pump. I had to hit the main shut off as gas was spraying everywhere! Those older pumps lacked modern safety features.......fire department came to clean it up. scary ****
 
I worked at a large gas station on a major highway in my teens, this happens more than you think. The best was when people would come flying in with an engine fire and stop right next to the pumps, exit and come running over to the booth :screwy:
 
It absolutely happens.

I saw one of our friends do it.

Interestingly her name is Karen!

She went back in the store and they told her it happens about 3-5 times a month!

Told her to just go on. They have break-away connections, and anti-flow valves, and it's not terribly difficult to repair.
 
IF I would have seen this " Starts with a "C" and ends with a "T" driving with the gas station hose like that, I would have laughed, maybe pointed at her if she could see me ( wouldn't want to waste a point at) and said " there goes a dumb, Starts with a "C" and ends with a "T"...
