My dad and I are restoring my 1974 Dodge Charger together. We would like the stock appearance but change the wheels to 15”. Any advice on the best fit? Also what is the biggest tire we can fit on the stock 14” rims?

Biggest tire? Consider the width of the stock wheels I'd guess are 5 or 6 inch. You can do a search on wheel/tire charts showing tire sizes based on the wheel you're looking at. My preference is a 15 or 16" wheel with 7" width. I went to 15" x 7" and if a redo, might have gone 16". A car like the one you have I think would do nicely with the larger/wider wheels. Some like even larger; but to each their own. I put p235/60r15 on my Magnum 500 7" wheels and fit nicely.

Welcome from Georgia.

If you are looking to do a true "restoration", the correct routine is to return the car to as close to originally built as possible. If it was built with 14" wheels, you keep the 14" wheels.
I like the look of a wider wheel and tire though. These cars have the tires sucked in so much, they look like a big man with tiny feet when the stock 14" wheels are in place.
It isn't just the diameter, it is the wheel width that makes a difference. The 14" Rallye wheels are often 5 or 5 1/2" wide. To me, that is way too skinny. Today I pulled a set of 15 x 7 steel wheels from a Chrysler Fifth Avenue in a junkyard. $38 for 4 wheels, $20 for paint and I have the widest wheel they put on a regular production Mopar car.
I went with 18" wheels on my red car because I loved the style and wanted low profile tires for handling.

I like the look of the NASCAR race cars where the tires are stuffed in.

welcome to FBBO

go to 15x6-7" at a min. don't even bother with the 14"
better tire selection & no harm no foul on the build
it's an actual good upgrade

I agree 14's on any post 70 car just looks like they used a bunch of spare tires. Too much fender for those small wheels.

Would you mind telling me what year fifth avenue? I’d like to make sure I get the right offset.

I thought that all the rear wheel drive ones were the same along with the Diplomat and Gran Fury Police cars. 1980-89.

They weren't all 15X7". Just the fancier models.

Thank you for all the help! We found some rims off a 1980s Ford Grand Marquis. Also, you said you like the NASCAR look. We have Hoosiers off one of our stock cars on there right now.
