Curious if anyone has a 1:1 trace of a '68 glovebox liner pattern they can share.

Not really in the mood to pay $70 for a cardboard repop, and - for my purposes - I only really need the glovebox to be presentable for a video clip. Figured I'd bend one up out of black cardstock myself.

$70.00 for a repop? I paid $20.00 for a new one for my Charger. Fit perfect and had the nuts im-bedded. You'd be hard pressed to make your own for much less.

I just looked on Ebay. $19.95. Type in Mopar B body glovebox liner. 3 of them on there right now.

I only see one (unless you mean the '69 and '70 liners, which don't count - they're all different depending on year). Same seller.

More importantly, if you open the listing, you'll find that the schmuck is asking $31.65 for shipping:

The cheapest one without fake shipping fees is $33: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254827272890?hash=item3b54e39aba:g:TqMAAOSwndZf9eMB

I guess you are stuck making your own. I know shipping has gone through the roof lately. IMO, the one you quoted from Tamraz is more like $15.00 shipping at $33.00. Looked pretty reasonable to me.

I found that Classic Industries would do $23 shipped, but they're out of stock.

Let's be real about this: $33 is a stupid amount of money to pay for a piece of $3.99 cardboard that's been thrown in a die, folded up, and stapled.

For once, I wish the aftermarket made a plastic version of the same finished to look like the original - for those of us who like in humid climates who might (gasp) daily our vehicles and use them for what they were intended.

I'm half tempted to make a wood buck and vaccuform one.

We at Mega Parts prefer to assemble your entire order first, and then determine an accurate shipping cost. This ensures that our customers are neither overcharged or undercharged for shipping. Before proceeding, you have the choice of providing your credit card information upfront, or we can handle that after we contact you with the final total cost. We also accept PayPal for payment once we quote your final shipping cost. Thank you!

You know, I understand their reasoning for not quoting shipping costs up front like this, but this is as Web 1.0 as it gets. Surprised anyone still does this in 2021.

I put in an order and asked them to contact me with their shipping cost before billing.

I'm sure if you aren't happy with paying the actual shipping costs I'm sure Jamie would gladly accept anything above and beyond that would make you feel better about the purchase

I have no reason to doubt that there are truly fine people at the other end of the line; it's just that web checkout systems moved on more than a decade ago.

For small stuff like this, it can't help sales - especially if the competition thinks they can set a $50-70 price tag on these and not consider themselves under threat by the retailer selling it for $17.

It is just the way Roy and Jamie choose to do business, and they are not running short of customers anytime soon.

Good for them.

Wish it wasn't so difficult to find the smaller retailers with the good prices.

When I got my glovebox and a few other items from MegaParts a couple months ago, I paid $15 shipping. Its light, but not the smallest part when packaged safely in a box. I thought the $15 was more than reasonable based on how much shipping costs anymore.

Yes, there are companies that have more modern checkouts that estimate shipping costs instantly. But, I doubt any of them are accurate and I am sure they lean in the favor of the company, not you. I just ordered some stuff from Classic Industries last weekend and I think their shipping costs are only estimated based on the total price of the order not physical size or weight. Unless it is an item they have marked as oversize. From Classic Industries, I ended up only spending just over $200 to get their discount and still paid $36 for shipping for a exterior mirror, negative battery cable and bucket seat mounting spacers. I ordered a wire harness, rear view mirror and four arm rest bases from Year One and paid less than $20 shipping. Yes, I know they are on different sides of the country and I am closer to YearOne, but still think the shipping from Classic Industries not accurate.

Good price, but S&H is $22.28. That's $40.28 in total; more expensive than the $33 liner on eBay.

First, you asked for help with finding a glove box liner because you didn't want to pay $70. Then in post #3, you said that "show me where I can get one for $20 and I'll get one. Well, about 6 post worth of liners less than and around $20, but now you complain about shipping. We all pay exorbitant shipping because they screw us all. I am sure you need other things so just add more items to your order to even out the shipping cost.

Agreed - it would take one of the more sophisticated checkouts to calculate both upon size and weight for combined purchases. NOT a fan of price-based shipping estimates though. As Mopar stuff goes, that just means complete wallet rape.

I don't think all of the calculators lean in the favor of the reseller though. Pretty sure some of the combined shipping deals out there may trade off a higher overall profit on each part for a smaller profit per part, made up for on the larger order. Not to mention that the largest retailers probably get UPS volume discounts.

You know what I meant. Shipping cost counts. Not that I'd have anything against $25 total (which we've yet to get to, save for Classic Industries' backordered part), but trying to justify that a $19.99 liner with $35 shipping meets the criteria is bull pucky of the highest order.

Be derisive if you feel so inclined, but I do not feel any remorse at all about price shopping for a good deal, nor do I understand the jocks around here who feel themselves justified to challenge other members for being price conscious. The people who overpay in the Mopar world have only themselves to blame for helping to justify vendors who jack up prices beyond belief.

P.S.: Don't be so sure about what I "need." Some of us are blessed to have a working-enough B-body that we don't need to fill a shopping cart to the brim. Wait, I take it back. I need a FF Stage 2 steering box rebuilt to suit the shorter-travel fast ratio pitman and idler...but there's no combined shipping or alternate dealers for that.

EDIT: I see you've hit "disagree." Looks like you can't seem to justify your point of view and went for the easy way out. :p

Mega Parts' price w/shipping is $31.85. Went for it.

I still think it's crazy that a piece of stapled cardboard should go for this price.

Going to trace the damn thing when I get it and post the measurements for other price-conscious folks who aren't ready to join the club of getting price gouged.

I disagree because ridiculous statement. Your initial post says that you don't want to pay $70 for a re-pop (no mention of shipping included), just the re-pop. Then in post #3, you again state to show where you can get them for $20, and you will, but again, not mentioning ANYTHING about shipping also. I then point out your lack of proper "requirements required" instructions since your posts only referred to the item being $20'ish and you attack me for trying to help you out. I really don't care where you get it, or how much you pay for it (with or without shipping). I have no problem with shopping for the lowest price, but believe me, ebay is the LAST place I start looking for an item for this exact reason. Have a nice day sparky...:thankyou:
