Got a new engine / forward light harness, pos and neg battery cable, grounds, etc... Roughly how long has it taken you guys in the past to do a job like this alone?

Also. Will I have to remove the headlight assembly in order to rewire those? If so, how straightforward is that?

Thanks. Sorry if asinine questions.

The majority is just plugs.
For me a couple hours maybe 3.
Either way just take your time you can't rush this stuff.

I'm actually doing this now. but all custom wiring under the hood & cleaning stuff up under the dash. Less the headlight harness for the most part , but i added relay's. Everything else is scrapped. I think i have about 8~10 hours into it thus far, waiting on some 6 gauge and 12 pin DT connector.

but if you're just replacing 1 harness with a new one, shouldnt' be more then an a day my guess...

Did either of you have to remove the headlight assembly or anything on the front end to access that wiring?

With a factory replacement or reproduction, 1/2 a day tops, even for a novice.

When you plug into the bulkhead connector it wouldn't hurt to check on the inside to make sure none are pushed out. Sometimes the locking tab doesn't lock and female connector is pushed out of the block. Don't ask how I know.

69 CHARGER was me , no i didnt fairly easy to access without pulling the entire assy. cannot speak for others tho

Don't know about the 1st gen Charger but on my 66 Belvedere, iirc....had to remove the headlight to unplug it but it's pretty easy on that one.

2 - 3 hours is a good guess
but its simple and straight forward
unplug the old and plug in the new
my grille was out and you have to remove the headlights to get to the back of them. If I remember correctly you have to insert the wires into the headlight bucket from the turn signal side. The wires have to be out of the coupling but I think they come that way, if not you will have to de-pin them. also this is a good time to replace the plastic bushings the headlights ride on

I did run into one problem
The forward headlight harness was way too long
I could have rolled it up under the battery tray but that's not right
So I called M&H and after a few email and pictures exchange they gladly sent me new wire ends
So we de-pinned the ends cut to length and reassembled
so that took me a few days waiting for the terminal ends

New harness & old harness (note the length from the rubber plug to the coupler end)
