Hello fellow Moparians

I need to know a.s.a.p. the treadwear rating for Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires.
I have been searching the web without any luck.

Please respond if you know it or can cite a website with that info.

Thanks

Not even their website shows it. I would imagine it would depend on the tire size, also. And tbere are different applications. I would contact Goodyear/MT.

If its a Mopar. When you see cords showing, there done. :D

I had read somewhere that tread wear ratings are not standardized.

Well, I guess nobody knows the answer since the manufacturer does not have that info. This is from Jeg´s website:

UTQG Tread Wear Rating
N/A
Temperature Rating
N/A
Traction Rating
N/A
How come they won´t divulge this necessary info??

Well I’d bet the M/T doesn’t manufacture their own tires. If you can get a manufacturer code you’d be one step closer to learning more.

This chart years ago told me some $30 pep-boys tires were made by Michelin.

Mickey thompson is a cooper tire company. Did goodyear buy cooper?

According to a site called Vehicle tire.....
Street comp-300
Sportsman ST-440
ET street SS-Zero
ET street radial-Zero
All the above tires show traction and temperature ratings, so... i think the treadware rating is.....zero.
Let me guess, racing in a class that requires 200 treadware?
Edir: from wandering around a kit cobra site, several commenters stated that the SRs do not have a treadware rating. According to one, he contacted M/T, was told there was no rating, expect 10 to 20k miles
So my guess is....they either have no rating, or its Zero.

No treadwear rating I can find on my S/R fronts that I can see. I just went to the garage and looked. I can tell you they are very soft compared to the Nexen radials that they replaced. They actually leave a similar rubber mark on the concrete shop floor like the ET Street Pros on the back.

Not rare to have none. Note that snow tires have no rating either.

Why do you need to know that....out of interest? Not something I ever look at. Load and speed rating of course and whether they are summer or winter tyres... but not wear rate. I would always be prepared to sacrifice as bit of wear for extra grip anyway.

There are racing classes, both autocross and drag racing, that require certain treadware ratings posted on the tire, to be legal in class. (Usually 200 in autocross)

If it's for a racing class that requires a rating...then that's why- to keep participants from running slicks or other "zero wear" tires in that class.

Yes, you´ve got it right. My question is spurned by a dialogue between races here in Iceland about if the S/R tires will fit into a stock tire class with tires like B.F. Goodrich T/A, Cooper Cobras and Firestone Firehawks. This is the best info I have been directed to. I wonder what the difference is between Sportmans S/R and S/T.

I dont know much about the sr's other than the rears are real big for tubbed cars and street rods. I think the STs are just cooper cobras with mickeys name and a slightly different tread pattern . Mickeys are made by cooper.
I dont know what your treadware requirement is, but you might try looking at Toyo or Nitto. Both make ultra high performance tires for the autocross set, with 200 ratings or better.
Time for more interweb research.

I've been a 1.72 60 ft. on 275/60/15 S/T's if you're looking for real world results. 20 psi. As said above, they are the exact same as the Cooper Cobra.

We are running in a class that says "Only true radial tires allowed, Drag radials and soft compound tires not allowed." One competitor showed up on M/T E.T. Street and another on R/T Sportsmans. A debate ensued if the R/T´s would qualify as soft compound, but the E.T. tires were definitely illegal. The wisdom I have picked up on the www is that "true" radials have a treadwear of 400 and higher. The R/T´s do not give any info about its treadwear.

You can see a video of these races here:
My Charger had a bad day; spinning the wheels almost half track. There is another race on June 19th. I plan to do better then

Thank you for your interest,
