Wheel Choices, Looking for Opinions

Or you could try part# 658-5812400 at summit. It is a 15x8 mopar steelie, 4 in stock as of five minutes ago.
Or you could go to summit website and search us wheels 658 series, and see all the steelies us wheels makes.
(I forgot to write the price down, wanna say around $140 ea.)
Edit: @JG71B, I was wrong, they are $123. They have 15x7s for the front too, $113, also in stock.

I would go with your American Racing 15x8 and run P245/60R15 on the rear and P215/70R15 on the front since you have manual steering. That being said, I would be really tempted to run the 245 60s on all four corners.

I have mid/late 1980s 15x7 Mopar cop car wheels sitting on my shelf. Each one is beyond heavy. I swear one of those bare cop car wheels weighs more than one of my aluminum alloy 15x8.5 wheels WITH a mounted 255/60 tire. Those cop car wheels are a lot of weight to add to your suspension...you might not like the ride/feel. That being said, I like the look the look of them in black with chrome lug nuts.

Also, Center Line wheels look nice. Maybe you can find a complete set that were manufactured sometime in the 1980s.

I don't pretend to know about manufacturing costs vs profitability, but steelies or cop wheels in aluminum (painted black or body color, of course) would be a big seller, I think. I'm going with 15x6.5 all around on mine, because I have them and they were cheap, but if they were available in aluminum......

I’ll voice an opinion I don’t see too much on here. 16” rims. I did 16x7 with TorqThrust Ds. Looks nice and clean, handles notably better than 14s or 15s but doesn’t look like I live in LA either. You actually can’t really tell they are any larger, including when buying tires (cost is about the same as 15s) but the corners seem to know. Ride remains quite good.

Nate S, I agree that 16”s look great on the very few I have seen....I can’t comment on how they handle because I have not run them, but tire selection seems so limited. What tires are you running?

My friend has 15X8 TTO all around on his 71 Super Bee and it looks great. I also like the 16 inch idea, it's getting harder to find decent 15 inch tires. Not a Magnum 500 fan on anything newer than 70 and the quality of those Magnum repros isn't that great IMO. I would leave those 80's style mags in the past.

Here is what I am running on my cars. The first wheel is Jeg's Sport Torque, a Torque Thrust knock-off, in 15 X 7 size. The R/T sticker I found online was the right size for the wheel cap. I run these on my 1967 Coronet R/T. 215's in front; 235's in back.
The second wheel is a one piece aluminum recreation of the classic Magnum 500 wheel. Also 15 X 7, I am going to use them on my 1964 Polara. 215's all around. They look to be clear powder coated, so I expect them to be very durable.

I agree, i think tire selection in 16s is terrible, even worse than 15.
I have 15" tt2 for the front, and 16" on the back, cause i got a great deal on some new 16"slicks. (And the one inch difference is not really noticable). Otherwise, if i want to go bigger than 15, i wouldnt consider anything but 17s.

There is a member here with a (i think) 63 Dodge that is famous for his disguised, but extensive, efforts at saving weight. Sorry to say, i cant recall his screen name, at the moment, but i think i can find it.
He HAS aluminum copys of steel rims on his car. They are awesome, but FAR from cheap! If memory serves, $500/wheel?
I will agree, big steelies with street tires are heavy! My 15x8 ramchargers with 255/70x15s t/a's are 60 lbs each.
Centerlines with slicks are about 2/3 of that.

I have a 235/60-16 on there now. Didn’t have any trouble finding some. About the same range of choices as I find in other sizes. All radials of course.

For performance I would recommend Welds. Centerline aren't bad either. But for curb appeal I found Cragars hard to beat in musclecar era. Even by today's standards of all the custom options. JMO of course.

Anything EXCEPT steel wheels with dog dish caps. Everybody trashed those for aftermarket mags of one form or another.

My favorite non-factory style wheel is what my dad had on his GTX. I think this looks absolutely awesome!
