Tomorrow marks the anniversary of D-Day. Truly a day to remember not only for the number of lives sacrificed in the name of freedom, but to all that put their lives on the line to defend liberty.

God bless America!

I am not a veteran, but thanks to the greatest generation we still are free.
From the deepest recesses of my heart, thank you! This also extends to ALL VETERANS!

If anyone needs the true definition of a hero... look no further. They are the best there is.

A salute to the men in women in uniform that protect and have protected our nation. May God always bless you and your families. We will never forget those that have fallen for the love of freedom and family . I’m not a military man but they have my respect and always will. It takes balls to do it..Even against your better judgement . It commands the highest honor in my book.

It ticks me off ,when I ask my kids what they did in school. They barely mention what great strides this country made in good and bad times and how we used to all unite and stand for her and with Gods grace we carried on only to get better.

Gonna watch "The Longest Day" again tomorrow.
Good one but there is one better I feel. Band Of Brothers as it depicts real hero's and their part in that great campaign. Airborne was and always will be at the tip of the Spear. Always enjoyed working with both 82nd and 101st during their training jumps. Nothing like it. Green Light!!! Jumpers Away...Loadmaster...cr8crshr/Bill cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

I see the Canadian flag in there too...
Many of you may be familiar with the old “reality” show Ice Pilots NWT, about our local airline, Buffalo. They run a huge fleet of planes, among which are a few DC3’s. One of them is an actual plane that flew D day in the invasion. It’s just a random plane in the fleet, still earning its keep every day. An amazing piece of history.
Now they just fly freight but up to just a few years ago they offered daily passenger service throughout the north on these planes. Riding in a DC3 was a normal every day part of our existence, and it was pretty freaking cool. Definitely NOT like riding on a modern passenger plane.
They still use the DC3’s, DC4’s, C47 Dakotas, and less frequently now the Canso/Catalina amphibians. My house is right on the glide path to the airport, about a half mile away. In the summer especially those planes thunder over the house so close that you can see the rivets on the body panels. A truly amazing sound. One of the town beaches is at the other end of the runway and one time four Catalinas took off and passed right overhead. The sound was thunderous and amazing, and gave a small taste of what it must have sounded like in Europe so many years ago.

Agree, im a few miles from the chino ca. airport, they have a nice museum, and antique air show, i think a couple times a year.
I hadnt heard about the show, and had other plans, but a few days ago, i heard something strange, looked up, and saw five P51s in formation heading that way, passing over my house.
Made me feel good.

Been to Omaha Beach Cemetery twice. Very humbling experience. To those that fought that war and gave the ultimate price - :usflag::canada::drinks::thankyou:

The most humbling place on earth is a military cemetery a man named Bob Romanik used to preach. He also stated it is a place of inspiration too... I have to agree!

It was very eye opening to take the train in France. You pass lots of random cemeteries out in the middle of nowhere, in farmers fields. Having two modern wars there makes for lots of dead.
Also going to your Arlington National Cemetery was very humbling. A beautiful place to be buried.

Very somber place in history, from a very special day...

Thanks to the brave... :usflag:

It is now 5:00 AM in Normandy, and 77 years ago to this very minute 100,000 guys were bobbing up and down, seasick, and scared. Paratroopers had landed 5 hours ago, and the Infantry was just a couple hundred yards from Hell at Omaha beach.
They need to be remembered, and I thank them.

To all the posts, Amen!
We can never let all of our veterans and those on June 6, 1944 that landed that day and their sacrifices be forgotten!

It’s always been a humbling day for me growing up as I had an uncle that survived Dday! He told a few stories from time to time but not many.

Many second generation Germans fought against the Nazis, and
My Grandmother emigrated in 1900 to America. Her son, my Uncle Joe went to Fight as a Tank Commander, landing at exactly 6:00 PM June 6th with the 747th Tank Destroyer Battalion. As a child I would listen to all four Uncles talking at the dinner table that fought and luckily survived.
I asked Uncle Joe if it was Hard to fight Germans? He said they weren't Germans, they were Nazis!
Being a young kid not knowing any better, I asked if he was ever mad, or scared?
Uncle Joe said he was mad the second he hit Omaha Beach, after he had to drive over all the dead G.I.'s in the water, or lying dead on the beach. But there was no other way, and they had to knock out the hidden rear artillery units of the Germans, as they had lost 10 of 27 tanks just getting ashore. and he stayed mad thru Bastogne, and to the Elbe river. He was one of the last original soldiers that landed on that day, was still In France in Jan 1946.
In fact as late as 1985,(he passed that year ) he got Mad again just talking about it.

Shocked, SHOCKED, to find five hours of commemoration of D-day on pbs2 this morning, talking with d-day vets, and other coverage, basically a tribute to their sacrifice and courage. Pleased and surprised to see it.
Not surprised it is not in prime time on June six.
