Who has MOVED from their home state ? How difficult was it for you?

I've spent some time in Tennessee, Gatlinburg. Summers and Christmas and all I can say is if I was to move out of state, that state would be the place for me.

But if you can have freedom and lower humidity I think that's a better option...
If Arizona didn't look like the backdrop for a Road Runner-Wile E Coyote cartoon, I'd consider it.

hey Kern...... move to jersey :realcrazy:

I am glad I made decisions all during my life, to Live life where and how I desired. Must be why I don't have near as many $$$$$ as some others!!

I love Arizona, spent many vacations in Scottsdale and Sedona. Sedona is more diverse in its weather, but Scottsdale is one place that in the summer that sweat ran off of me just standing outside. Beautiful scenery!!

I've been watching this thread and I'm sure the place for you is Tennessee. I have spent most of my time in the mountains where you would love the scenery and being able to do what you enjoy, cars and being in a friendly state.

I was born and raised in Cape May. It is probably one of the most beautiful places. I miss a lot about that place. Been in Fl. way too long. But, it's Home for now.

south jersey is actually pretty nice (anything north of Atco is north jersey lol)....the further south, the better

Few things in life make me smile like throwing a car sideways on a dirt road. That stuff is pure bliss.

I haven't ruled out Texas but they sure do get some weather events!
Texas is pretty big. The big freeze wasn't anywhere close to being normal for any of the state but if you like hurricanes, live near the coast!

I have a friend in Bandera. I look at the weather there and in Tennessee every day.
Have a friend that lives in Kerrville....about 20 north of Bandera. He likes the area but it's growing like crazy. Don't know about Bandera growing but figure it is....

Lotta nice areas in Texas, Austin would be great if they could get rid of all the Californians... Wait! What? LOL.... I kinda like the Waco area... DFW is wayyyy to crowded...
Never was a fan of Whacko....but it has been awhile since spending any time there and for sure don't want to live in the DFW area! I thought Houston highways were crazy around town but DFW is pure nuts.

I've been permanently in Texas for over a year, I am an escapee from the Soviet Republic of California. I am now in heaven. Here's what I tell everyone:

Please do not move here. All the horrible stories are true. Terrible weather, nasty people, a hellhole. Cost of living is outrageous. The bbq is lousy, and there is no empty space left. None. There's no guns and no economic freedom. Please do not move here.

:bs:

Truth: it is a massive size state, 68% larger than CA. If you are selective and know where to live then the weather is great. The cities are cities, so they suck; the rest of the state is empty and beautiful. The bbq is the best, the people are too nice to be true, very reasonable COL, everyone has multiple guns, we all hunt and fish. (The state requires you buy a gun when you move in!) (well that last one is not quite true).

Freedom is everywhere. No income tax, the other taxes are quite acceptable, roads are excellent, government actually functions. Gas was $1.15, back up to $1.63.

So please do not move here. Thank you.
Well, the sales tax is just a tad over 8%.....got to figure in the state, county and city sales tax but still cheaper than most places.

Thats what makes our country so great, people like me love the country and everything rural, and others require a Pizza Hut just down the block!!! We have 1 traffic light in the county that is 1 too many for me. They put it there for when school lets out!!!
Been driving 'through' Shepard on 59/69 for years but never stopped in.....

Bandera is a freaking metropolis. It has 3 traffic lights along Main Street! (the only 3 in the whole county). Main St. is also the state highway route, so there can be traffic delays and gridlock (up to one full minute). It has a Domino's pizza (but balanced with three local mom-n-pop pizza places). Too much city life for many people.

What Bandera does have are lots of honky tonks, the best one being Arkey Blue's, since 1968 (or 1940 or 1921, depending on who is counting). Willie Nelson gets his Shiner Bock on at Arkey's. It is one of the last cowboy towns on the planet.
Used to listen to Willie but sorta moved on away from his music for some reason....

Wife was raised near Llano, i just it has survived as sorta rural even though pretty lose to Austin. I lived in rural Missouri for 37years. I still can't get used to all these PEOPLE!!!!!! Been here in S E Tx fr 3 1/2 yrs, that is 3 1/2 LONG LONG years!!!!!! lol
Why have the years been long??

I was born and raised in Cape May. It is probably one of the most beautiful places. I miss a lot about that place. Been in Fl. way too long. But, it's Home for now.
I've been ready to move further inland for years!! And can even imagine what the property taxes are like in Cape May let alone home insurance is like! Taxes on a crappy beach house along the Galveston coast will cost plenty and the upper Texas coast isn't all the nice imo.

We just finished moving from villa park il to Prescott valley AZ. Distance made the move very expensive and we sold most of our furniture. It was worth every penny ! It took us almost two years from the time we decided to build here, so it was a lot of work and stress. But we had a lot of good times in between.

Get West of I35, low humidity, hot everywhere in Tx, Land prices in the Hill Country are nuts.

Tx drivers have NO speed limit in their heads, anywhere here!

Stop in man!!! We are just 3-4 mi out West of town. Pm me sometime for cell and address.

We were supposed to move to W Tx but it ain't ever gonna happen! I was raised in SW Ga, worse humidity there just like here! I melt every day! But I lived in Mo. 37 years and been everywhere. There is a difference!!!

Missouri had low taxes! And low cost of living. And low wages. Good place to retire, but not the best place to lve. Depends on your vocation. Most everything in Tx costs twice as much as Mo and more!

I will say it again!! STOP IN!!!!!
