Hi fellas,
Has anyone here removed the entire parking system from their 727? Were there any unexpected problems? I am using a CRT competition MRVB. Thanks.
Mike

Main unexpected problem would be failure of tech inspection at the track?? Maybe parking brake would circumvent this, but probably weigh more that park pawl removal savings.

I've done it wit no problem, but you lose the convenience of being able to hold the car in place.

I do have rear discs with a mechanical parking brake. If I recall the manufacturers recommend using the parking brake even with a PARK engagement. I just want to get any crowd wisdom here. Thanks!

Really don't see that you'll gain anything. Loosing the convenience of having park. Putting parking brake on every time you get out of the car would get old.

You never drove a stick shift car?

Sounds like you had your mind made up before you posted this thread.

The park pawl and the wheel (can't think of what it's called) it engages can't weigh a combined 2 lbs! I can't figure why you would want to remove such a simple mechanism that works so well?!

I thinned my park gear down. Removed the governor. Put a new snap ring groove in the shaft.
Park still functions.

I finally got through to John Cope this PM with my question. He said "you need the governor support to keep the tail housing from flooding" so I will retain the "PARK" system, including support seal rings. I was wondering about oil control but, flooding the housing was something I hadn't considered. There I learned something today!

Mine doesn't run the ring. It does have a seal installed the governor support housing. Tail shaft has had zero leaks. Been this way 9 years.

Reverse needs to be locked out at the track so what do you save weight wise by removing it?

Still wonder if the human diet would not be more productive for many in the fight for every ounce lost.
