No driving test!?

Had to take oldest grandson to dentist the other day and he's 6 months away and we were talking history/adjustment of rear view mirrors. It was interesting. Told him that's the very first think to do after adjusting the seat. ("What no right side mirror?") Not on the SuperBee!

I don’t remember anything about drivers training. But, I do remember hitting a hundred on
I-94 by “The Big Tire” in my first car, a 68 Charger.

If a person has natural talent or a robust drivers Ed program it might make sense for some, but the folks who can't chew gum? Maybe not.
From what I've seen, there's a lot of those!

I was shifting a 20 speed "quadbox" in a DM800 Mack at 14 yo. Hell, I rebuilt my first engine before I was old enough to drive. I think the difference is that I had a father that started teaching me about motor vehicles as soon as I was old enough to comprehend. He also taught me to respect the power of every vehicle I operated.
IMO that's lost in today's generation. Parents aren't taking 10-12 yo kids to an empty parking lot and teaching them to drive a stick.
Can you imagine that? A 10 yo behind the wheel in a Walmart parking lot, bucking and jerking, trying to ease the clutch out?
There'd be 20 people filming it, posting it on YouTube and the parent would be in jail.

Ive seen people who have been driving for 50 years and still cant drive worth ****....so WTF they give dirvers licenses to "undocumenteds" here in dirty jersey ,give them to anyone who wants one....It wont make a shits *** of a difference road test or not
