I'm new here, so I don't know where this thread belongs, but I'm negotiating the purchase of a very clean 67 satellite. 318 2bbl car. automatic. Yellow with black vinyl roof. Very clean. Original 38000 miles.

I'm at 17K right now. Picture attached. Comes with factory AC, although it needs repair. It will cost me $1500 to ship.

Is this priced right?

Maybe, if you can find the right buyer. Problem is the 66/67 cars suck on sale values compared to later years unless something rare or unusual on them - or the top goes down. I have a nice but not cherry 67 GTX and I’m resigned to keeping it until I’m pushing up daisies as I can’t get enough for it to recover half of what I have in it and I only paid $13k for it 20 years ago. But, it’s OK. It’s a fun car to drive.

if that is solid it is worth 17 all day long. is the interior as good as the car looks?

Make sure every piece of body trim is there and decent condition. Believe that stuff nearly unoptainum.

I could go and look but it might be SOLD then.

Yes! The interior is very nice it is a consul floor shift. The car came with air conditioning but currently not functional. But I figure fixing the AC is a lot easier than installing it

it has a little bit of rust in the floor pans, but again I don’t think it’s a major fix. Besides the car is coming to Southern California and it’s unlikely to be driven on a rainy day

Any other rust besides the mentioned?

Is the air system complete ( expensive to gather it all up if not )

A good solid running driving B body is worth mid to upper teens pretty much all day right now

I wouldn't go any higher for a small block.
I know low mileage is appealing.
How are the rubber parts? Front end?
Any oil leaks?
More pictures would be helpful.

Nice looking car. Price is not bad if it's as nice as the pic makes it look.
Consider the next year change and prices jump a good bit.
66 / 67 B bodies are pretty cool :D
Just do your home work and make sure the car exists.
JMHO but once you cross the 10k price range it's worth the air fare to see it in person.
Looks nice , good luck.

According the the price guide I posted, with the AC factored in, you are right at #2 price.

From the looks of that pic, it could indeed be a #2 car.

Compressor clutch is bad so the belt is off. But all parts are there.

The biggest annoyance? Someone in the past painted the engine bay black! Why do they do this?

I found some rattle can paint that comes in the Daffodil yellow of that year, maybe I can spray it back to yellow

The price just dropped for me

Hard to paint an engine bay with the motor in place. Might end up with a worse mess. I guess the Ford and Chevy guys just couldn’t get use to body colored engine bays. AC repair is going to cost someone some money. If the clutch needs to be replaced the might as well put a new front seal in too. Then need to go through all the connections and be sure fresh green o-rings have been installed. Will need a new drier and then flush the system. Fill with new oil. I still have R12 in mine and it’s around but will have to search for it - I don’t personally like A34 conversions. And the vacuum controls and diaphragm cans under the dash to the doors may be good or not and the linkage down on the heater box can be tricky to set right for max-cooling.

I think you’re looking at #3 pricing realistically.

edit: forgot from above you are buying and not selling.

I'd look at the AC as nostalgia and plan for a vintage air system. Advantage of the factory AC car is less effort for the vintage air install, and upgraded cooling, etc.

When I first saw the photo I thought $17k was fair. Now after reading about the rust in the floor pans and the black engine bay I would say $12k, depending on the condition of the car. It looks great from that one photo but those faults set off alarm bells for me.
Have you got photos of the rest of the car including the underside?

Oh, yes, the interior is very nice, headliner good and all the gauges work, windows. There are some little rust spots here and there, but the floor pans are the worst. The body is very straight, no evidence of bondo or damage. No leaks from the engine which is stock or transmission.

So did they pull the engine to paint the engine bay black, or was it painted with the engine still in (you should be able to tell). Just seems strange for a car with a stock engine to have a black engine bay unless it was pulled for a rebuild.
