I have a '63 Dodge 318 with a 727. Gonna change fluid, and I understand I need the '65 and earlier filter with 2 holes, for front and rear pumps, to replace the current screen.
What should I do with the inline filter, on the trans cooler line? They are NLA, so should I remove, and install a piece of rubber hose, or is it something I can flush and reinstall?

You can buy an inline filter from mopar mall for a mere $267.00, but I think I would pass. With a proper suction filter you won't need it. The factory stopped using it for the same reason.

Do a search as the filters are still available. My last came from Car Quest and I just sold 2 of them here.
If you have a factory inline yours may just have a screen in the pan. Look at your pan and see if it has a embossed dip in the floor of the pan. If so it has a screen. The inline filters are still available and I have used a fuel filter with the 5/16 female fittings.Transmission fluid flows just fine thru them.
I ran one on my 63 Valiant (904)for years. Or you can change the pan and remove the inline.
