I wonder how we all survived so far...

I wonder how we all survived so far...

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion...but here's mine, new cars are overweight over-engineered pieces of crap. Unless you're a mechanic you can't work on them yourself. To produce one vehicle, it pollutes the environment more than if you drove your old gas guzzler a hundred years! I'm old and OLD AMERICAN CARS RULE! DONE!

He also says you're being irresponsible if you drive your kids around in an old car. :blah:
With this typ of people being the majority, we're screwed. :mob:

He just stated he drives 80’s and 90’s cars, just another do as I say not as I do. Finance your car so someone can get richer off your efforts, **** them all…

How about learning Good driving skills, and using them ? It's worked for most of us, and it's FREE !

My favourite part is your 90’s civic wasn’t designed to take on a suburban....I remember the 70’s-90’s suburbans and 94 accord doesn’t have air bags and antilock brakes. obviously he’s never seen one. Drove a 94 accord back in 02 for a while and it had both air bags and abs...the guy is a douche bag. Just my opinion. I have a 4 and 6 year old and made a hook for the car seat in the charger. Might not be the safest thing but 99% of drivers hear or see me coming.

ABS was big in the late 80’s by early 90’s it was commonplace.

And I don’t remember what year for sure. Possibly 1990 every car had to have either air bags or automatic seat belts, aka passive restraint system. I worked at dealerships since 1988 and remember these this coming on.

Moron! The tinfoil that cars are made of today will never stand up to the good old American steel of our beloved Mopars. Bring it on smart boy, I’ll put my cow catcher up against that 99’s POS he drives any day!

How about **** him.....Never even heard of him so his option doesn't matter to me so **** him twice

Why even post that sensational click bait?

...and finance your new car so you get the price break incentive, then pay it off in 3 months to minimize the interest.

Thousands of dollars in savings with about an hour of time and as little as $10 in interest.

I will say, the way people drive today has changed and mostly because of their attitude towards others. I drive a 2019 Durango I feel pretty safe in it. I saw on the news the other day where a police officer tried to stop a woman that was pregnant with the pit maneuver. Her car flipped over and slid on the roof till it stopped, she walked away. I believe the outcome would have been different had it been my coronet. My coronet is for fun, my Durango is for total comfort. You can't compare the two, because there is no comparison when you're comparing apples to oranges. Technology will win everytime. Just my opinion.

the problem is they make cars too safe now with airbags , used to be natural selection but now the morons that used to die just hop in another car and run into somebody else , over and over and over ......

I like old cars but the new stuff is way better in a crash, that old dodge truck is a death trap in a drivers door impact just like our old cars. That being said this guy is a dipshit. Do you think this guy is even smart enough to have kids?

Not true unfortuanately....in fact being made of thick metal and not crumpling in the "right" places makes it worse.

Look at the Bel Air in this....Gulp...

This one is even more amazing....I would have had money of the massive old Volvo beating the tiny Renault.

Natural selection doesn't apply when you're talking about a one car accident.

When all is said and done we know that old cars dont handle, stop or keep us as safe as newer cars.....but that's the risk you take....and its worth it. That said most classics don't spend much time on the road so are less likely to have an accident and most are owned by enthusiasts, keen to keep them safe.......more of a risk with old but not classic cars being driven as beaters by the young.....they could do with buying the newest they can afford.

And as far a modern safety is concerned.....well I'm convinced the safer your car is the more risks you take......in your new Volvo with 1245 airbags you might take more risks....even without realizing it as you know (possibly subconsciously) that you have every chance of surviving if it goes tits up. On the other hand....would your drive your car rather more carefully and take less risks if you knew that, if you crashed, a 12 inch polished stainless steel spike would come at you through the steering wheel rather than an air bag?....I suspect you would!!!

Just had a discussion yesterday about how you had to actually drive an old muscle car with bias-ply tires and drum brakes (have some skill and common sense), compared to all the driver assisted electronics and tech in new cars.
The old joke was that when you get too old to drive a muscle car you get a Corvette with all the traction and stability control to help you drive.
Now the new car basically drive them self, so the "driver" is nearly a passenger sitting behind a steering wheel.

thats exactly when it applies , when they kill them selves , not some innocent driver on the other end

My point was, my wife might be in that one car accident and she's not the idiot you're talking about. I can well afford her safety at all cost.
