I picked this car up awhile back and started cleaning it today. Not bad for $ 500 bucks. Not a Ford fan but couldn’t pass on the deal. 79 was the first year for the fox body. I don’t think I got hurt. Now I must apologize to all my Mopar buddies, I’m sorry but you would have bought it too. Lol

I always thought from a direct front view the early k-cars with quad headlights looked a bit like the early fox bodies. But your right I would have bought it too at that price point.

I'd spray that whole thing with Raptor bedliner, tinted of course!

Nice score. Ive always been a closet fox body fan. I took a lot of **** from my Mopar buddies back around 1991 when i bought an '86 5.0 GT. It was my daily driver for about 5 years.

There have been dark periods in American automotive history...

You know, any classic car for a good price, is a score these days! Congratulations to you!!! Fox bodies are in great demand too!

My second car… 1984 Ford Mustang GT with the 302 5.0. First week, not my fault and the whole valve train failed (dealer covered). Every time it rained it tried to spin out sideways, Michelin’s! Wasn’t appealing to dates or perspective dates! Best: 3 1/2 hours to Vegas from Los Angeles with a full stop for lunch, gas and pee! No one could keep up on the 15 fwy!

Cool Car, make a nice driver for the $$ !

I would have bought it, and the best part is the paint is perfect as is. I'd drive it some just so I could say I did. Great patina and no blemishes are covered up, so I would want its forever home to see it just like that when I sold it. I'd leave it, yellow plastic and all. Easy money.

I wouldn’t have bought it. But since you bought it, I say have a blast with it.

Hope it doesn't need tires... If it does it would be cheaper to put tires & wheels on it than those TRX tires... But a collector would want those TRX wheels on it...

Which Engine? I've seen 79 pace cars with a 2.3 Turbo & the 5.0... Neither was very powerful... But it was 1979 & all cars were pigs...

I agree with the patina the way it is- old worn out pace car. I think it’s cool. 500 bucks makes it cooler!

I worked for the blue oval when they were new. Everyone that bought one love them and ran the crap out of them. the 2.3 was the most popular because of the great fuel mileage and the turbo made them lighter and quicker.

You could flip that car as is in California for 5000-7500 easy
They are very rare and sought after down here

Yep, Had a 79 too around 81. Turbo 4 speed 4 cylinder. A friend of mine bought his new.He still has it !!
