Question:I have a 1973 Plymouth Satellite/Road Runner. What is the widest 15 in tire I can put on rear without it rubbing or cutting into tire?
I have Cooper Cobra P235/50R15 and they are starting to get cut up

Depending on thee wheel size & especially offset, 295/15 or N-50 15. The inner fender is approx 14" wide!

Sorry to here that, measure the width of the tread v/s the "approximate" 14" inner fender and note that the wheel offset is the critical factor. My N-50's are approx. 12" wide on an 8 1/2" rim. I think my backspace is around 3.25" if I remember. HOWEVER, I have a narrowed rear with spring offsets. You do need to figure for movement and leave a small amount for clearance. A lot of people back in the day used to grind off some of the inner fender lip if they contact the tire at all or even if they were close. When I bought my car there was P295-R15 tires on it on 10" rims. No issues due to mostly due to offset. With my current aluminum slots, I actually installed an additional 1/4" spacer to push them out a little further to the center of the wheel well. I hope this helps! Actually I think my rear meats are too small, LOL. I would like install mini or full wheel tubs to accommodate what I refer to as "Tar Rollers"!

Are they centered in the opening or biased toward the quarter? 235's should easily fit if mounted on the proper backspaced wheel....

Okay but how low can you go with any of those tires ?
