Should I care about 11k ohms vs 2k ohms?

based on what was available in stock I bought the classic yellow/orange boot Accel super stock suppression wires, replacing a set of Accel super stock spiral core wires that one had burned (detail in that thread).
The new wires measure ~11k ohms vs the old ones at 2k. This is the first time I've ever checked this and in the past would have never even thought to care, but now that I did, I wonder if I made a bad choice or for this stock ignition big block it's just fine?
 
The old rule of thumb used to be less than 1,000 ohms/inch how long is the wire you are referencing?
Yes the spiral core wires were likely better but I think the new ones should work fine. (until you burn one...)
 
Are the new wires copper or graphite/silicon conductor?
 
Chinese copper mixed with plastic??? Are you sure you're measuring the resistance carefully?

Agreed... If it's truly copper it should have relatively low resistance... I'd expect less than 100 ohms (honestly closer to 10 ohms)
 
It is 11, but on the 20k scale, so that's 11,000 correct?
My spiral core measure 1-2.5 in this scale and the suppression core measure 11.

To be clear that photo is just to show the setting, it's sitting there open not measuring anything
 
Yeah, that would be 11K ohms... The wires must be a suppression type wire, if theres any copper it's in the terminals cause no way your gonna get 11K ohms in two feet of copper..
 
Yes they are suppression core and listed as copper with a spec of 5000ohm/foot. I didn't actually expect such a difference in the 2 wires. Whether it matters to my engine was the question but in this case $20 delta does buy a different product.
 
Interesting, a huge classic industries catalog came yesterday and their description is the clearest description of the 2 wires
