WHICH WHEELS?

Cragar G/T's up front and 295/55/15 tires on the back with an 8" steel rim.

Also, you have a great looking car there my friend.

I prefer wheels that compliment the color scheme, body lines and/or trim of the car. Your car already looks great, and I like the polished wheels as they bring out the trim of the car. Another possibility is to go with a dark rim that helps contrast with the light body.

I think the good news is that with a car that nice you probably have a wide range of options that will look nice!

Good luck!

Mike, sorry if we hijacked your post. Can't help it when it comes to Wheels and Tires !!!

Anything but steel wheels with hubcaps. Nobody kept those on their cars back then, they all went in the garbage. It they were on your car when you got it, they were the first things to get heaved.

He asked "which wheels". I see a lot of different possibilities. I usually google the car, look for my color and see what looks good on others cars.

Unfortunately true. However we did lots of things that were pretty dumb

295's fit without any mods?
I dont know about Preachr's car, but yes, i think it can be done, but only with the perfect backsace on the rims
(Note: theoretically a 295 should be on a ten inch rim, hasnt stopped me from using an eight or eight and a half). A 295 is supposed to be 11.6 section width. I have a 62 (similar wheelwell size and shape to your 64) with a 12 1/2 section on my car, now. BUT, it is probably too tight for street use, and it has ss springs. Im sure they would rub at stock ride height.
If you want to try that size, careful measurements are required. I think you will be happier with 275s.

Yeah, there close , but they fit . 15 x 8 with a 5 1/4" back space, Thats stock under there. I can't seem to locate the pic of the outer side. If memory serves me that what your looking at is 1" but like I say it hasn't rubbed.
Good luck with deciding on wheel and tire design, looks etc. Thats a toughie or at least it was for me.

View attachment 1125346 I should also mention I'm heading for the 60's SS look when I was young. Pretty much all the wheels look great on these cars.
I would also like to stroke the 440 in it and go with the maxwedge hood scoop but not sure if I'll get to that point[/QUOTE
That car was for sale, did u buy it (San Mateo?)

Not only wheels. pistol grip shifters, air cleaners, manifolds and mufflers. The birth of the "DAY 2" cars.

Thought I'd update this. I THOUGHT I HAD BOUGHT THIS 64 but on the day it was to be delivered the owner calls and says they went to load on trailer but the trans is locked up, WTF? Checks back in a couple days and says not sure the problem Long story short he sent my money back and I never got that car
BUT I just got this MaxWedge clone yesterday 9/11
