My kick down does not appear to be working correctly as the car shifts too early. I believe this was originally a 2brl carb but is now a 4. I read some where on a big block when switching from 2brl to 4 that the kick down lever would not work. Is that the case with small block as well? Any suggestions about how to start?

When converting from a 2 bbl to a 4bbl the kickdown rod and carb linkage are moved farther forward on top of the engine. This makes the kickdown rod too short. Needs to be lengthened. A short section can be welded to the rod. If you have the 3 section type of linkage it is sometimes easier to convert to a "Lokar" cable kick down kit.

I like the bouchillion kit. It's pricey but easy to adjust and robust.

I believe this was originally a 2brl carb but is now a 4.

If the 4-barrel is aftermarket, you need the Mopar throttle lever extension and a longer top rod to make the linkage work correctly.

I installed the Lokar cable set on my Dodge 360/727 and have never been able to achieve correct upshift and passing gear operation with the same adjustment. Where can we find said throttle lever extension?
