2021 11th Annual FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" Game - Time To Burn Some NITRO!!!

I agree and wonder if it's because of the transportation cost to New England for some of the smaller independent teams.
The bigger teams are mostly located in Indianapolis and the tow to the West Coast has to cost more than the tow to New England.
I can easily see NHRA dropping this event if the pro category car counts continue low.
It also makes me wonder what the car counts are going to be like for the Western Swing. Car counts are not yet posted on nhra.com for the Mile-High Nationals.

Here's some additional info regarding the low professional class car counts at the New England Nationals...

Yeah personally I think it's purse money more than anything
second distance to travel for those not based in INDY

I understand the reasons
just don't like it
need to move the race west or southwest
or closer to the next event

I never did like or understand the NHRA schedule
all the back & fourth nonsense
(especially for teams based in Calif.)
going from west to far east & back west or to go home
(I know a lot of races are traditional dates too)
that extra travel with no incentives, like a big purse
or good sponsor coverage/exposure etc.
& the huge time frame & huge expenses to do so

If you're not one of the mega $$$ teams

they need incentives to get the Pros there,
maybe guaranteed tow $$$
(I'd get that when match racing)
for those that aren't the mega $$$ teams, independents
that don't have fat wallets
even incentives for the local yocals to come & try

Nice work, Nick!
I seem to be lost - going in the wrong direction. +1 for the last two races.

Congrats Nick

I went down -2
lost all I gained to past 2 races

F/C R. Capps is my kryptonite when I pick him
he does well on qualifying, sucks in racing
goes out early, Haddock, Capps blows the **** up

T/F S. Torrence didn't go as far as normal either
semi's

P/S G. Anderson lost off a holeshot in the finals
& got outrun by a 0.002

Remember when?

There's a good article by Phil Burgess on nhra.com today about the 900 NHRA Funny Car event milestone that was hit last weekend. The article leads off with this great shot from one of the big car count funny car events at OCIR. I don't know if this pic is from one of the Manufacturer Meets or one of their 64 funny car events.
Chances are, I was there and not too far from where this pic was shot since this is from the pitside grandstands.
Enjoy...

I may have been there too

I remember them days well
Orange Co. International & Ontario Motor Speedway

I was at the last race OMS in 1980 (IIRC)
Ontario World Finals
also OCIS in 1983 (IIRC)
in this, AA/Gas sorry no track photos
Budnicks 23 T Ford Altered AA-Gas 6-71 Blown 301ci Donavon (1).jpg

My stepdad Bob took me to quite a few before I started racing my own
Riverside, OMS, Orange Co., Irwindale, LACR/Palmdale, Lyons, Long Beach
from about 1967-76-ish, when I started doing my own thing
he raced a 64 GTO, 68 Firebird 400, 70 Judge all in S/S or MP classes

the SCTA (southern Cal. timing association) did cackle fests
so did the other nostalgia races, Gary Meders (spelling)
or Goodguy events too
the NHRA event at Bakersfield did too (use to anyway)

or back then maybe after 1980 also my Pro-Gas 8.50 49 Ford Tudor BC
it was GG1 dark green when raced
nevermind the date stamp that when it was converted to digital

Here's your 'Tuesday before the event' reminder for the upcoming Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH. This is the seventh event of the 2021 season.
The Summit Nationals first round of professional qualifying is scheduled for Friday, June 25 at 7:00PM EDT (4:00PM PDT). Two additional rounds of professional qualifying are scheduled for Saturday, June 26.
Current forecast is calling for high temps of 82F at the start of Friday qualifying with a 24% chance of some moisture, 83F on Saturday and 85F Sunday with a chance of light rain both days.

NHRA.com had a little glitch earlier and wouldn't show the current count for the Pro classes.
I just checked again and found:
* 18 Top Fuel
* 18 Funny Car
* 20 Pro Stock
* 21 Pro Stock Motorcycle

As always, check the entry lists (NHRA National Event Entry Statistics) to make sure your driver pick is racing.

Post your picks and let's go racing!
