As some of you might know already, so for the others I purchased a 1973 Roadrunner project in boxes. Need some identification and info. So, big steel brackets that I can't find in my manual where it goes if it does belong to the car. Second, picture of the diagram for the rear bumper, the reinforcement bracket between the rear bumper and brackets. Did not come with the project. Is it necessary or do I need it.
Thanks in advance

Those look like Front bumper brackets.
I removed the reinforcement brackets (74 Road Runner) from both front and rear and had no problems.

The reinforcement bracket does just that. And It is what keeps the bumper from just folding up if you get hit and is what the bumper guards attach to. It is like asking if the bumper is necessary. Have you downloaded the Factory Parts Manual ? It hs illustrations and factory part numbers for all the parts.

Agree.

Front bumper bracket.

If you leave it off the bumper will want to fold under due to it's own weight.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I will be hunting down a reinforcement bracket. Do they re-pop them and are they year specific? Was waiting for a shop manual that was ordered a while ago, but as many of you know everything seems to be backed up. Just like after a cheese fondue LOL.
