Supposedly a 70 RT track pack car, any input on errors or value?

A guy relatively close listed this 70 RT. Supposedly has numbers matching 4 speed (18 spline) with 3.54 Dana 60. Appears to be a white car, no vinyl top with c stripes. Very basic aside from that. No AC, drum brakes, etc. the interior looks like it was burnt orange, but the dash looks incorrect as I thought 70 RT cars had woodgrain dashes. It needs the rear lower quarters, valence corners and around the bottom of the rear window. Fender tag is missing, but it possibly has the build sheet.
He’s asking $25k, no motor.

Does this appear legit? What’s the realistic going rate these days?

I believe thats the going rate.,A guy in Chicago sells rollers for 20 on up. Grab it if you can.
 
For a R/T 4spd car? I'd say it's a bargain...

My concerns are the missing Fender tag. Not sure if the build sheet is there. The driver seat is black, not orange, and for some reason it has a 68-69 dash. Supposedly the vin matches in all places. Just trying to make sure it’s the real deal.
 
70 would be wood grain. I know the feeling about the fender tag. My Bee didnt have one. If its solid I dont think you can lose on it. Vin should tell you if its a 440 car. Does it have the dana?

Yes, supposedly factory Dana 60 with 3.54 gears. It will need lower quarters, window corners are rough, bottom of window frame is rusted pretty good. XS and U code, which should be 440 R/T.

offer 18 and go from there,Ive been looking and chargers are CRAZY MONEY.
 
This is what you need to ask yourself, can you do the work on the car? Is this the dream car? You will dump another 15 on up to restore it. These cars are money pits. Like I said Im looking for a charger and debating if its cheaper for a car almost finished then a project. Once your over 40 I want a fender tag. Good luck.
 
I just crawled out from under a white 70 Charger R/T a half hour ago! So I might be a little bias! lol
 
Even with all the rust and missing/incorrect interior...you’d go $25k? I noticed the valance corners are rotted...hopefully there isn’t a ton more hiding. I’ll try to get trunk photos.
 
Cost of basic building materials (lumbar, steel, copper) more than doubled in the past couple months and is only going to get worse.

Buy it while you can as people are not selling and everybody wants one and he can sell it for more.

Overall its a pretty solid 70 Charger R/T 440 4 speed dana car,if I could get it for 25k I would buy it. If it were 30k or more I would want the fender tag,and or the engine. Check out my thread on here,my car is in about the same shape as the one you are looking at.
 
Restored, what would it being a true rt 4 speed do you it’s value vs a clone? It’d be a keeper, I just have to ask.

To do a car like that right, you need to throw it on a rotisserie, blast the whole shell, repair/ replace all rust, epoxy prime, and paint everything - inside and bottom. Restore or replace everything else. IF you can do most everything yourself, you will be out your labor when going to sell. Very time consuming, but you have to think of it as a hobby or a labor of love. Just me, but the missing fender tag would really bother me, but not if you find the correct build sheet for it. A second gen Charger is one of the few cars you will come out this good on, most everything else you will take a bigger hit financially. Just my opinion of coarse, but I have done a few of them....
 
Not too many Charger R/T 4 speed cars in that price range. You will have what the car is worth in it when its done,but you will have a 4 speed Charger R/T too.
 
I don’t understand chargers at all. You can buy the one you’re looking at for the $25k he’s asking and spend $70-80K + and a couple years or more of your life restoring it and it will still never be a matching numbers car or you can just buy one like this

all numbers matching with build sheet, fender tag, EVERYTHING renewed, restored, or replaced with much NOS used throughout for around $65k. I don’t think I’ll ever restore a car from scratch again, it’s a losing proposition. When I buy a project I look for abandoned projects with usually, hopefully paint and body done already.

Don’t get me wrong, I love chargers and would REALLY love a 68’ but I’ll be buying it done or near done.

From what I see the frame looks good.
But I think it might need a floor.
Hard to tell with the thick plush carpet in there. Wow that's ugly.
