1964 Dodge 440 original 383 4 speed. What rear end ratio(S) might I expect to find assuming rear has never been changed?

Those would be my guess also. I would say more so the 3.23, I would think the 3.55 may have been a "performance" option but I'm not up with typical Mopar stuff

3.23, some chance of 2.94. Look in the parts manual. Other ratios existed but were only normal options in “other” cars, like taxis or police cars.

My 64 Plymouth came with 2.76 sure grip. Also I have found 2.94.
3.23 was most common but back then it was up to who was ordering the cars.
I grew up in SW Pennsylvania not much level ground there. The local Dodge dealer always ordered cars with 3.23 and sure grips (snow).

with a 4 speed?

Sure. The point I was trying to get across is there was no standard. Any gear set could be had. Back then they had a order sheet .
The dealership went down a list of items and checked the boxes then mailed the order in.6 weeks later the car would be delivered to the dealership.
That is in most cases. There is a saying in this hobby,Never say never when it comes to Ma Mopar. Just about anything could be had.

I say with that combo, a 3.55 !!!
When will we find out ??
And what do we win ??? THE CAR ??

My Belvedere was a 3 speed manual. It had a 3.31 ratio.

So did my 65 when it was new.
I think that ratio was only available in the 8-1/4”. That’s one weird thing, same 741 casting, same axles but the ring gear is just a little small. If you weren’t paying attention you could buy one as an 8-3/4 at a swap meet.

Here is the grand prize !

I have had 3.31 and 3.73 in the 8 3/4. The old 8 1/4 had 11 studs and nuts holding them in. They also had a big 8 1/4 on the top right of the case when u we’re looking from the gear side. Kim

Mine was a 8 3/4. I'd never seen a 3.31 before this. Car was an untouched 6 cylinder 3 speed manual.

If it was untouched it would have been the 8-1/4. I can tell you, if you weren't looking at the chuck sitting on the floor and looking for that in particular you would never have known.

That's a different 8-1/4. You're thinking of the one used from '39 - '57. There was another that looked IDENTICAL to an 8-3/4 and swapped too! just had a little ring gear.
