For those of you who have been in the game a while, what do you think for the future of charger prices? Drop back down, plateau, or further increase?

I hear some say they think they’ll drop after the baby boomers, but you can’t tell me future generations won’t think the 68-70 chargers are cool. But that’s just me. Crazy to see cars that cost 5k are worth 20k now.

But really, literally everyone concerned about this is hoping that they can buy up every charger that they can find for $5k or less so that they can sell them for $20k or more. No thought about actually ENJOYING a car, just about flipping it for profit at some point.
This is what has ruined our hobby, and made it beyond the means of the average joe to get into now.

'Basic' economics.. since interest rates are at an all time low and probably won't come back to the levels we saw just 10-15 years ago (reserve banks are printing money like crazy and the economy is hooked on the 'dope' - we have an unprecedented situation right now) those who have got cash to invest are looking at alternative investment opportunities. Classic cars are just one of so many things that appreciated in value - actually price increases for classic cars are modest compared to collectible sneakers, trading cards etc - yes you read right. What we are seeing is an asset inflation and no, I don't think prices are coming down anytime soon.

So even if baby boomers are dying off they will be an investment opportunity since they are rare, iconic and are something that cannot be easily forged/duplicated for a dime.

Even if someone reproduces these cars again, they will be very expensive. So the originals will always be worth more. Just my guess.

This kinda happened in the vintage synthesizer market.
Instead of driving the prices down the originals now cost even more...

But some reproductions are very cheap despite sounding very close to the originals.

Tell me about my Marantz 4300 receiver..

This. Exactly like old cars most of the vintage synths weren’t even that great. Moog, Korg and Roland are now priced out of my “hobby” fund range. Just like old cars.
Hell, even old PAiA synths are valuable and most of them are junk. Cool junk, though. Wish I had kept all of the ones I had.

As reported in a previous thread, a Hot Wheels Charger went for 12 grand. What's next? I can't see them coming down soon, but at the rate our screwed up government is printing money inflation will continue. Is there a end, yes, but the country will be broke and our money totally worthless. For those of us that have a little money put away the trick is as I heard someone say the other day. The fine line is to spend as much as you can without going broke before you die.

People that have money, will always find ways to spend it..

They’re going to keep going up. Sure it’s generational, BUT all the kids love them because of the fast and furious franchise.
I think it’ll become like c2 corvettes and such. In 20 years they’ll be taking apart run of the mill restored cars and building resto mods.
Most millenials don’t know to pump the gas before starting the car.
You can buy an almost running and driving restored chassis from a lot of The cars that go the resto-mod route.

Most people my age haven’t driven a car with a carb. Fuel injection spoils you. I totally get the enjoying a car. I’m looking at buying a Charger to enjoy...I’d just like to know I’m not crazy for paying today’s rates lol. I’m looking at selling off a modern toy to buy the old one.

If you want the best built (old days) Charger you buy a 66. Everything got cheaper after that, think the bean counters had a part of that.
My humble opinion.

The past is more valuable today.... like gold

The disposable society was born in the late 70s.

I am sure glad I lived in that golden era when I bought my now past new and not restored!

Yes numbers matching cars too!

I loved the 50s,60s 70s cars, drag strips, mini skirts and 4speeds.... not necessarily in that order.

sometimes the 4speed and mini skirt were competing factors.

My love for cars is keeping me young today!......

Thanks B bodies!!

Long live the past:thumbsup:

The Dollar is worth less everyday and falling fast with the recession threatening to become a depression.

Second Gen Chargers are in high demand cause they stir the Soul and are just plain cool. Just something special about them. All the Bad Asses and Villians in the movies drive one, Hulkster owns one.

I won't sell because I would not be able to afford to buy the same cars at present prices.

Not only chargers, all of the b body's 68-70's are going mad in prices, is not the rarity they made a but the desirability of the lines in this cars, Garth is right the hobby is getting out if control just for a nice proyect, the movies and the popularity of this cars is getting out of hand

So, here's my addage.
There was a rusty clone 69 general lee down the street from me when I was 15. That was 1992. Ran but neede a lota work & paint.
Price was $1800...
I was 15.
It was $1800 more than I had but the car sat there for like 2 yrs, next to the road, for sale till one daay it was gone.
I never see 68-70 chargers here in NE Ohio. I domt look for them but do go to showsbut none ever show up.
I think the market for them is blossoming from the current movies & can only predict they will go down. But never be a cheep car from the fame. Always will be highly valued, collected, restored, & coveted.
I shuda bought that GL clone when I was 15. He had a farm, hell I did too... But shuda offered to work it off...

Yeah 68 is king. It’s a hard car to beat I think it’s at the fastback 67-68 movie king status

I just hope people get tired of the charger being the halo car and start focusing on the 1970 Plymouth sport satellites the real bad *** of the dodge line up lolz I can dream right ! I wish
