You guys rock, I thought it was a 5/70 carb but wasn't positive...... I'm a bit confused though, it's for a 69 440 but was built in 70? I'm gonna need schooling on that one!

IMO...
The carb date SHOULD proceed the build date of the engine and car. As others have pointed out, the carb is a '70 model application. What makes it different? The '70 emission specs were different than the '69 specs so the jetting, step up rods, step up pistons and springs will likely be different (leaner), and the off idle air bleed transition circuit will be different AND the addition of a HOT IDLE COMPENSATOR VALVE, (located above and between secondary butterfly valves, below the air valve blade) for A/C option, to add additional air to the idle mixture for a smoother idle due to high underhood temps. Perhaps your original carb was replaced with this unit due to a warranty replacement??? The -----SA, means the "A" is an engineering revision to the origional issue. Just thinking out loud......

Great info! Too bad I'm not a numbers resto guy doing a '70 440 A/C car.....maybe I'll find a guy who just can't live without this one! Haha

Tag show 145th day of 1970 meaning May 24th and the stamping looks like an E meaning May.

So... 1969 440HP with A/C application assembled in May of 1970.
Thanks. Had hard time with the letter.
